Who's got two thumbs and all his toes and is a happy camper? THIS guy! Could NOT be happier about both the Pens and the Bs openner. Hopefully they can both keep it up. Brilliant domination on both fronts. Vancouver being Vancouver again and no idea why Luongo started... haven't been to NHL.com just yet, but I did find it surprising.

Disgusted. No better word to describe how I feel about Pittsburgh's play. Ridiculous. These guys played better when their only stars were crosby and malkin. Now that their loaded they think they can just show up and win. Now to be fair, the stars did shine. Neal had a goal in his first game back, but Fleury was atrocious. NY is clearly more hungry or ACTUALLY hungry. Fleury hung his head after the the buzzer... that's the LEAST he can do. Ugh...

Brooms are out for Vancouver. If anyone thought that team still had a window, they don't think it now.
Interesting to see what kind of dismantling happens.

I think the only thing they do is fire Vigenault and replace him (Lindy Ruff?).
Fire Vigenault, Trade Luongo for young prospects (start rebuilding). And to be honest... you never know anymore. I thought the Shark's window had closed long ago and aside from Chicago they are the strongest team in the west.

I think Anaheim is better than San Jose ... They got a tougher draw in the first round despite being a higher seed that San Jose IMO.

I see them about the same. Anaheim's advantage is they have better goaltending and that's saying a lot considering Niemi has been playing really well. Speaking of goaltending the Habs are fucked. Budaj won't win them a game much less a series. And the Pens are going with Vokoum, thank god. As for the B's and Leafs, did you guys see those stats!? over 40 shots on both sides! holy crap! Go Bruins! :D

So another half-assed effort by the pens barely got them by the Isles. Both Keith Jones and Mike Milbury said somthing quite surprising. They liked how Vokoun played, but said he wasn't the type of goalie to carry the Pens to the cup. Um... why the fuck not? He is a DAMN good goalie that like Luongo wasted his best years in Florida. Sure he's old, but baring Injury I think he can do it. I definitely don't trust Fleury right now. In fact... never have, I feel Pittsburgh wins in spite of him, not because of him. He's not "world class" or "elite" He is "very good" at best. I look at the current crop of supposed super stars in every position and I wonder.... Where have al the Roys, Coffeys, Bourques, Haseks, and Yzermans gone? There are only three players, all forwards, I'd call "super stars" right now... Crosby, Stamkos and Ovechkin who has once again kicked it into high gear. Crosby has had the horrible luck to get injured all the time, but when healthy there is no one better. Stamkos and Ovechkin have proved season in and out they are beasts. Up and commers? Tavares, no question. The Islanders will be a very scary team very soon. But the rest? They lack real consistency.

Right now everybody is praising Anderson in OTT for great play. Sure... for now, but he has shown in the recent past he can have his ups and downs. OTT is his what... third club? Maybe I'm too nostalgic to see the greatness in front of me, but We'll see I guess.

I rant this way because the Olympics are coming up and the analysts said Quick is hands down the goalie for the U.S and for the other countries to watch out. I agreed and thought... Who is the go to for Canada? Not Price... or Fleury or Remier... definitely NOT Luongo... Is Canada fucked in goalie this time around? sure looks like it.

I agree about Tavares, much more complete player than Stamkos who is mainly a sniper. Crosby is great when healthy, but has had a career mirroring Lemieux's in greatness as well as injury/ailment. If Tavares can avoid the same fate he will be a scary player.

As for Price... he will very likely be the starter, but for the first time in a long time Canada's goalie will be their weakness.

Gotta love, what the Swiss have done.
They've always been a second -tier hockey nation.
But they seem to be on the verge of putting that behind them.

Yep, they pulled it off, 3-0.
Well, no point in watching it now! :( Over here the 2nd period is barely starting. Anyway, that is really good news.

I WAS going to write that the only non-surprise has been Sweden. A relative no-name USA squad DISMANTLED Russia, an actually no-name Finnish team made it surprisingly deep and I didn't even know Switzerland had enough people to put a hockey team together. I'm glad they'll medal no matter what, but I doubt they'll upset the power-house that is Sweden.

In NHL news, I'm so proud of my Bruins :) Can't wait for game two tomorrow and I'm glad Pittsburgh has turned it around and playing well, game 3 should be more of them dominating as they have.

Out west EXACTLY what I expected and wanted, tight, physical, anything can happen games. These games are earned. The number of OT games, game 7s and upsets are proof the Cap worked. Just good times all around. I'm glad we had a season after all.

Yeah Switzerland made it to the final but not the gold. Perhaps a certain amount of veteran experience was necessary and Sweden had that. Although I still don't understand how the Sedins keep underachieving in the NHL playoffs.

Anyway, pretty excited for game 3 tomorrow at the Rangers, should be interesting to see what difference home ice makes. But so far I'm quite impressed with the young defensemen that are stepping it up for the Bruins.

Before the tournament, I thought Switzerland would be the team Norway would have to contest for the last quarter-final spot. Instead they won the group and made it all the way to the final. Impressive.

Avalanche just hired Patrick Roy as its new head coach. That takes me back, trouncing my roommates while playing as the Quebec Nordiques in Sega Hockey 95 while in my third year of law school.
