Given the current situation and who they're playing, I'd consider both as surprises. Germany need to win against Costa Rica and that's a 90% in my book. They do need Spain avoiding defeat against Japan, but that's another 90% (or more). So let's multiply those probabilities and we get 81% chance of Germany going through - i.e. 19% chance of them going out.

I do hold Croatia as favourites against Belgium, but there is enough quality in the Belgian side that I certainly think they have more than 19% chance of making it. So Germany out would be the bigger surprise, to me.

Agree, but the tournament format does give them one more chance to show what they're capable of.

If the first two games are representative, they will get destroyed by Croatia.

After first match's awe, Spain proved to be a disappointment, I wish they were out too. I think that would have have happened were Germany won by only 2-1.

Always the hard way for them though. They will face Croatia while Spain will end to Morocco. Anyway, good for them I also like what they do to clean up the dressing rooms.
