NOW WATCHING

Speaking of Taxi Driver I just read that there are plans for a sequel. Lars von Trier (!!!) will be involved in the project.

I saw Kill Bill 2 from the tv (seen it before though), then wanted to see more Tarantino.  I watched Kill Bill 1, Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs this week, and probably will watch Inglourious Basterds this week-end.  Reservoir Dogs was the only one I hadn't seen before.  Wikipedia says he has a few more movies which I haven't heard of before, anyone know if those are worth watching?

Deathproof is a stylistic film, nice to watch but more style than film.
Jackie Brown on the other hand is a brilliant and very under-rated movie, with very tight script. Watch it  :)

Finally got around to watching the Walking Dead today (AMC Zombie series), really cool and shows promise for a great series.  I just with DirectTV would carry AMC HD

Thanks. They'll release it in 2D also ;)

While we're talking about 3D: Saw 3D. It's hard to be upset with a franchise that I've (mostly) enjoyed immensely. Saw's moral compass may have become less prevalent with each installment but it generally entertained and disgusted in equal measure. This one is pretty much what I expected but the pointless 3D annoyed m. It added nothing but distraction. And the ending was ruined VERY early on in the flick. That said, I still laughed a lot and pointed at the screen in disgust a lot so, like I said, hard to be upset 5/10. I'm taking a point away because of 3D.
I stopped watching Saw after the third one.  The first was a great, original, interesting and intelligent horror movie, but after the second it just went into cheap gore.

It was expensive gore ;)

True, but what horror franchise DOESN'T do that? How many "Halloween" movies are there? Friday the 13th? Nightmare on Elm Street? Leprechaun? etc....

I've just finished watching season 3 of Battlestar Galactica - amazing show - and I've been wondering what the watching order for the extra thing like the webisodes, The Razor and the Plan are.

Roman Polanski -Rosemary's Baby

Oh my. What a film. I'm speechless. In the start, I could detect some Hitchcock touches, but Polanski took it more far than my expectations. Astonishing! Cassavetes' and especially Farrow's performances were outstanding. I can't think of any other thriller I've seen, better than this. 10/10

Seen that previous week together with two other classic Polanski's:

The Tenant (check this out, if you hadn't seen it yet. It might grab you as much as Rosemary's Baby, though perhaps in a slightly different manner).

Chinatown

I watched Rosemary's Baby this week too, and enjoyed it a lot. The tension throughout the film while not much seemed to be happening was incredible. I did find the ending slightly disappointing though.

I can't imagine a different end, except that
she's been killed or commit suicide.
...Two hours after, I'm still under the tension of the movie. Not usual.

I thought she'd kill the baby, and would have to be sentenced for it (nobody would believe her when she'd tell what happened.

I was disappointed that the baby still lived (after all, it was evil). But this ending is pretty terrible (for the world) as well. :)
