... namely their inability to self-edit things (although I am immune to the latter; that’s one of the perks of being a Maiden fan since the early 90s  ).
Come to think of it, the only Maiden songs I will still like without a long intro or think they need editing are:

intros:
Gates Of Tomorrow
Satellite 15... The Final Frontier (although it is very fitting)
Mother Of Mercy
The Man Who Would Be King
The Time Machine

editing:
The Fugitive (the intro)
Fortunes Of War (the intro)
The Edge Of Darkenss (the intro)
The Angel And The Gambler
Don't Look To The Eyes Of A Stranger
For The Greater Good Of God (just one pre-chorus)
Satellite 15... The Final Frontier (the intro)
Isle Of Avalon (the intro)
The Red And The Black (just a bit)
Darkest Hour (the seagulls outro)
Hell On Earth

Since Senjutsu it has grown on me especially in the production department.

Mammoth WVH - You've to Blame

(1 of the opening acts for Metallica this year; debut lp has really grown on me; highly influenced by 90s rock)

Curious choices for 2nd and 11th(!) places. Did you really dislike The Red And The Black that much? I admit it's a better song live. Kudos for putting Speed Of Light so high. I've always said that Shadows Of The Valley is an underrated song, but now I think When The River Runs Deep is even more so - I mean, every part of it (bar the chorus) is classic Maiden (like Death Or Glory), while the melodies are strong as always and those solo are just so brutal! One of the Maiden songs with the best solos imo.

The ultimate production for a Reunion album of Maiden:

vocals mix: AMOLAD/DOD/TFF
guitar sound (solos): TBOS (Senjutsu on close second; I like the guitar sound on every album, tbh)
rhythm guitars: TFF
drum sound: AMOLAD
bass sound: AMOLAD/TFF/Senjutsu
power of the mix: DOD
clear mix: Senjutsu (obviously without the mistakes that should have been removed or the mix of the title track and Stratego)

*I've excluded BNW because it's probably my favorite production of all the Maiden albums. One of, for sure.
