I do like this song, but I always felt like something in Phil Collins’ voice broke in 1990 and never recovered. He sounded great up through his own …But Seriously album, but it was never the same afterward.

I did listen to Hardwired on Spotify back when it was released and enjoyed it, but for different reasons did not end up buying it at the time. That was wisely rectified last week.

Which album do I prefer? Difficult question, as both feature quite a lot of the aspects that I like about Metallica and also suffer from a similar problem, namely their inability to self-edit things (although I am immune to the latter; that’s one of the perks of being a Maiden fan since the early 90s ).

Can I call it a draw at this stage?

Death Magnetic might possibly be among my next purchases as I did not pay much attention to it back when it was released.
