Eliminated:
Stargazers - 5 votes
FantasMic - 4 votes
Planet Hell - 4 votes
Storytime - 4 votes
Last Ride Of The Day - 4 votes

Storytime and Last Ride should've been in Top 10, you guys are crazy

At least I got to eliminate more than one song for once though -_-

Just today I have warmed up even to Ghost Love Score enough to not vote against it again. At least, not yet.
I still think it’s way too cheesy Morricone sendup, but now I also think it’s kind of awesome, too.

In here there’s no “good” choice. Planet Hell, The Islander, Alpenglow and FantasMic are out and many songs off EFMB are still in the game (so what's there to lose?)

Wishmaster (it’s just too funny with all that “Hamster/Dentist/Hard Porn/Steven Segal” and “L’Oreal”)
Bless the Child
Amaranth
Ghost River

You got me voting against Amaranth, the perfect radio song this side of I Walk Beside You and Forsaken.
I don't know why Nightwish of all survivors seems to be the hardest. With my Top 3 bands (IM, DT, Rush) it wouldn't be nearly as hard.

The Poet & The Pendulum, Sahara, Ghost River (no idea how this one ended up as the best performing song from Imaginaerum O.o), Weak Fantasy.

Judas, GLS only won me over when Floor started singing it, check it out! :)

o_O I didn’t expect that. Seriously. She lowers the “cheesiness factor” for me just enough for it to be pure awesomeness.
And it's not only her - that 5:40 part is in this live setting changers from 50/50 cheesy score/awesome metal catharsis to … I don’t know what exactly, but it sent shivers down my spine, seriously. I don't know why. Don't ask me.

That woman is the most perfect human being in music today, seriously. And I love all three NW vocalists, mind you. I love Tarja especially and I've always had a soft spot for sweet Anette. But Floor just… delivers. That ending, ohmigod.

But I wanted to ask - I’m not that knowledgeable as far as Nightwish live releases are concerned - are there any other songs that are somewhat hurt by the original studio production? I mean are there other songs that - when experienced properly, live - will jump from my Bottom 10 to my Top 10? :D It might seem my votes in this Survivor are going to be wildly unpredictable! :)

P. S. - Have I just used "seriously" three times in the first two paragraphs? It seems Floor's not exactly beneficial for my health. :D

Glad you like it :D

Well, I don't think any of the live recordings with Tarja or Annette were anything special. They weren't bad by any means, but they lacked that special something that was missing up until the above concert ("Showtime, Storytime") was released. That special something is Floor, of course :D So check that DVD/live album out. Nightwish was always a band that could play everything live just as good as in the studio, so the only things that could change things for better or worse were the vocalists. And Floor is their best vocalist ever IMO. So almost all songs sound better than ever live now :D

Song by song from "Showtime, Storytime":
1. Dark Chest Of Wonders
2. Wish I Had An Angel
3. She Is My Sin
4. Ghost River
5. Ever Dream
6. Storytime
7. I Want My Tears Back
8. Nemo

9. Last Of The Wilds
10. Bless The Child
11. Romanticide
12. Amaranth
13. Ghost Love Score
14. Song Of Myself
15. Last Ride Of The Day

Songs in red are vast improvements over the originals. Songs in bold are just as good as the originals, but not that much better. Songs in blue are the ones I don't care for no matter the version :P. That leaves She Is My Sin and Amaranth that are great during verses but Floor can't match the choruses of the originals, and Ghost River which Marco fucked up.

Thank you, that's very precise. I just bought the live album on iTunes because of you - I'm going to listen to it tomorrow on my way to work and probably in work all day long :D And then I'll put my two cents in, of course :)

Well then ... I just put in my votes.

I am confident that Ghost Love Score will do well. I also hope Beauty of the Beast will do well. Not sure how Nemo or Ever Dream will do, but I love them. I really like Sahara a lot, but I guess that one will go down the drain before the top 10 starts. (Here you, these are my 5 remaining favs).

But for the rest: This is not the group of songs that I would put on an own compilation. Have fun, I am not going to sit this out.

Thanks for hosting Night Prowler.

Didn't realize Storytime Showtime had Floor on it. I might have to check that out.

Murderers, the lot of you! Killing the innocent Planet Hell like that (and killing Last Ride is pretty bad too).

I don't know why Nightwish of all survivors seems to be the hardest.

It is weird, because I have the same sort of feeling. Like even at the start of the finals, at least half the songs for me are very close to each other at like an 8 out of 10. Even now there's still a bunch of stuff basically tied together with just a couple below and a few more above.

Glad you like it :D

I have only heard it one time, but so far it would seem the day spent with Showtime, Storytime is a day well spent. I will definitely put at least two more spins to it at work.
I more or less agree with your assessment. I would switch She Is My Sin and Ever Dream - the former is quite cool with Floor, I think, but the second one... It's not bad, mind you, but if there is such thing as "oversinging", Floor does it here. That mournful Tarja approach suits the song better, I believe.

I agree that Song of Myself and Romanticide are meh anyway (though they are somewhat better here than I'm used to), but Dark Chest of Wanders is excellent here! I also gained a new appreciation for Wish I Had an Angel (probably because the techno is lowered here).
I also like Last Ride of the Day more now, and probably would not vote against it had I heard this album before (what would I vote against then, right? No idea).

I wholeheartedly agree with Amaranth, though. The second worst song here, Floor IMHO just lacks the "folksy brittle" tone that made the original so endearing. Or... more like she decides to not use it here, I don't know why. She almost sounds strained here and I don't get it - she manages many harder, trickier and higher vocal passages just fine. So I just don't get it.

I have already extolled Ghost Love Score enough above, but I defnitely started to like Storytime and I Want My Tears Back more. Still not quite convinced about Bless the Child, will see what the next few listens bring out. It's just still too... slushy. Or fuzzy, I don't know, my English betrays me.
And Ghost River is just awful.

Overall, I liked it a lot. And not just Floor - Emppu rocks! :D But Floor's out of this world. Most of the time I had this feeling

... and something about sausages. In fact, I think I will internally refer to this album as "FlowerFloor-Power and Sausages".
