I don't see what's wrong with touring the convention circuit. It's easy money and everybody does it.

I reckon it's probably hard to step away from the limelight, the roar of the crowd, the relentless adoration, the social side of things. These conventions probably scratch a bit of an itch.

Maybe, but the question is whether there might have been other possibilities to achieve this. In connection with music and drumming. That would make more sense to me.
