Nicko McBrain retires

Just read the news. Not terribly surprising and I don't begrudge him not wanting to live that tourning life anyore and just kick back and take things easier from now on. We all said that Nicko had the hardest job in Maiden compared to his age.

Still, it's a bit surreal and going to be strange when someone else is behind the kit next year.

The thing is if they're going to hire a drummer for a few months or if he's gonna be a member of the band.

A member of the band? Probably just a hired gun earning (significantly) less than the 5 band members (and Rod and Eddie) for the time Iron Maiden are still active.

They'll definitely be on a lower pay scale (comparatively) but a Maiden drummer won't be making chump change either.

Jason Bonham was curiously left off the Hagar residency in Vegas and replaced by Kenny Aronoff... Just saying.

He stated that he was shocked about it, but we have seen stranger scenarios. Jason would make sense as a lot of Nicko's bass drum playing was influenced by Bonzo.

I sure hope that in-between sessions of playing Harry back drum recordings from the tour that H has also taken the opportunity to showcase him a few vocal tracks of The Trooper so that we may finally address that particular sore point and get Bruce to sing in a register that's doable for him next year.

I'm joking, of course. That would never happen!
