New posters! Who are you?

Welcome, Ashes!

I could not disagree with you more re: Seventh Son, but hey, always good to have more opinions around here. Way to represent one of the all-time best Megadeth songs!

Thanks!

Once more, I shouldn't dis Seventh Son completely, as I think Infinite Dreams is a damn fine track, and one of the most progressive Maiden did. There are a couple of other great tracks there, too, I guess the biggest problem I have is with Can I Play with Madness, really.

Err... that's a tough one. Dennis Stratton? ... Just kidding.

I would say that Smith+Murray have a unique chemistry between them.
Neither of them is the traditional guitar hero, but their playing really complements each other.

To me Murray is more spontaneous, led by emotion (I see him kind of like K.K. Downing of Judas Priest).
Smith is the fore-planner, composer, master of melody (equivalent of Glenn Tipton in that sense).

That being said, despite Murray's conviction to the band and Jimi Hendrix-esque style of playing, I would have to go with Smith. Yes, he can be quite "poppy" at times, but the stuff on Somewhere in Time as well as his bits and pieces with Bruce on Chemical Wedding have me convinced. But, alone they are great, together divine.:shred:+:shred:=:rocker:

Hi all.
Maiden fan checking in. Got in to Maiden I think around 87. Son was the first album I bought on day of release. Still my favourite, so can't wait for tomorrow. Piece of mind was the first Maiden album I listened to. First Maiden gig was september 1990, No Prayer. Early UK leg of the tour, pre album release. Small theater. Superb. Followed them ever since. Records and tours. Yes, even the Blaze years. Actually, those gigs were great. How I imagine the early Marquee type gigs would have been. Seen them well over 20 times now, never disappointed.
Before you ask.... Close call, but I have to say Dave.
Up the Irons.

Hi guys:hello: Been reading this forum for a couple months now and finally decided to become a member. I'm 17 and first got into Maiden when I was about 11 and my best friend's dad played the Powerslave album for us on a car ride to a baseball game. Fell in love with the band immediately. I've been playing the geetar for about 5 years now and just started playing bass.

Glad to be a member:cheers:
