Most tortured rhyme in a Maiden song?

Black Abyss Babe

What do you think? At the moment I'm going to go with:

"Sometimes when you're strolling down the avenue
The way you walk, it makes men think of having you"

from 22 Acacia Avenue but I'm sure there are plenty of other contenders.

Anyone got any favourites?

"she's tied up she can't come to the phone
you must've got your wires crossed coz she ain't home"

"hooks in the ceiling for that well hung feeling"

from Hooks in you, or all of the Charlotte themed songs

Hands down the winner is "To Tame a Land," with Bruce spewing references to the Dune book at high speed. The most cringe-worthy lyric:

He is the Kwizatz Haderach.
He is born of Caladan
And will take the Gom Jabbar.

He has the power to foresee
Or to look into the past
He is the ruler of the stars.

You guys can hate it all you want. More Hooks In You for me. :D

Absolutely this. I understand that they are singing about a fictional universe, but ohmygoodlord, it's just ludicrous!

I know a lot of people love this song, but the chorus of "Nomad" makes me cringe every time I hear it:

Nomad, rider of the ancient East
Nomad, rider that men know the least

:nonono:

"Fear is the Key" has this gem:

In the heat of the night you can feel so much
In the heat of the night I scream, "Don't touch!"

Oh yea Nomad, glad you brought that one up, forgot all about it. The lyrics to Nomad are ridiculous, never liked them.

I probably misunderstand the expression "tortured rhyme". Cause most of these seem decent to me, except the TTAL.

I don't have the handicap of being annoyed by a pure lyric only. This is no poetry, nor a scientific paper. It's a part of the song, and in fact one of the least important parts, as far as I am concerned. Music and melody, rhythm, sound of the voice, vocal melodies, all these are more important when hearing Maiden.

So in this case I rather focus on some lines which are sung in an unpleasant manner:
That's got to be ear cringing lines in between 5.26 - 6.06 in When Two Worlds Collide, the longest 40 seconds on the Maiden catalogue.

When Two Worlds Collide
The anger, the pain
Of those who remain
When two worlds collide
When two worlds collide
So who will survive
there's No place to hide
When Two Worlds collide
When Two Worlds Collide
The anger, the pain
When two worlds collide
When two worlds collide

The bleating is done at terrorizing frequency.

2nd place, couplets and choruses from The Talisman, which are easily Bruce's most painful moments.

Your point is valid - a truly tortured rhyme is one where at least one of the words has to be "bent" to fit. But I don't think including the corny or just plain cringeworthy is really going off topic.

Other candidates:

No, no we can't let them take anymore
No we can't let them take anymore
We're the land of the free

No, no we can't let them take anymore
No we can't let them take anymore
We're the land of the free

No, no we can't let them take anymore
No we can't let them take anymore
No we can't let them take anymore
We're the land of the free

+ last but not last:
He holds your chains of miii se reeeeeyyyy uhhh eeeeeeyyyy uhhh eeeeeeyyy uhhhh eeeeeyyy uhhh eeeeeeeeeeeyyy heeeeyyyyyyyyyy yeeaaaaaahhhhh
