Metallica

To say Lars sucks is a bit much I think because back in the day the guy was really damn good. The And Justice for All album is a masterpiece of complicated drum-work. Yes he could also do very plodding, meat and potatoes stuff at times but Lars the reason for that is he always knew what would benefit the song. That's why he helped songwriting so much as well. I don't care what any one says about the guy, he was talented and helped the band enormously. That said the guy is appalling these days. Couldn't agree more on that part.

Oh, new posters, always so serious. When us wizened forum veterans are sillying up a thread, why do you have to come in and make so many valid points! :P

Lars aside, the clip of the recording sounds really promising. The riff was really heavy, and the drums didn't sound like shit.

Come on 'Tallica, you can do it, put out a good record, you nearly had it with Death Magnetic.

This is quite interesting! I'm sure he'll return to finish the new album and tour.

Some sad news to report to Metallica fans. Rob Trujillo, bassist for the legendary heavy metal band Metallica, has decided to step aside from playing bass for Metallica while he focuses on his rapidly advancing pro wrestling career.

“After working closely with Vince McMahon and taking my pro-wrestling career very seriously — I have decided to step aside from my role in Metallica to focus on being the WWE champion.”

Trujillo has been performing as “Roman Reigns” in the WWE — initially debuting as part of the popular stable ‘The Shield’. He found his footing in the WWE while Metallica was on hiatus following their latest release “Death Magnetic”.

Music insiders expect Trujillo to return to the band at some point, though it’s unclear which career he plans to pursue full time. Lars Ulrich was said to be outraged by his departure, offering this quote on social media.

“Wrestling is fake as fuck and super stupid, man. Anybody could do it! I could drop a kick ass elbow drop and wear spandex too. He needs to come back to the band, dammit!”

It remains to bee seen how Metallica fans will react to the news. One other detail that has yet to be released is whether or not Trujillo will be replaced by a new face in the band.

Those comments on there gave me cancer.

People who already hate the band for "selling out" are ready to jump to anything.

Metallica only sold out once. And it was St. Anger. That's the only album where they deferred to the current scene instead of doing whatever they wanted. They took out the solos at the expense of Kirk who called taking them out because the popular bands of the time didn't have solos 'bullshit'.

I would argue that Death Magnetic was technically Metallica selling out as well, it's just that by the time they made it "selling out" meant "playing what we used to play because that's what people will pay us for."

I'm still not certain that Load/Reload aren't a sellout. In best case, misguided. It's not just music, it's the image, choice of gigs and style at public appearances.
In any case, Metallica has an integrity issue.
