Metallica

Since the story was quite disturbing, maybe the point was to disturb the listeners with the music as well? :p
I seriously think that was the case. Lou Reed came off as one of those artists who wanted most people to hate his stuff, or at least be disturbed by it. Maybe Metallica didn't see it the same way, but they did a good job making it seem like it.
Though it wasn't very clever and came off as rather forced at times, and I think that's where the album failed.

There was a bit of seriousness in my joke as well. Lou Reed always sounded proud when people hated his stuff. Metal Machine Music is unforgettable.

Constant repetitiveness of the album manages to disturb me. But the long "instrumental" breaks with nothing but little noises don't. They just bore me.

Since Metallica will be letting the fans pick 17 of the 18 songs on nest summer's setlist, shall we push for 'St. Anger' in full? (The other song will be new.)

Dang you actually have to buy the tickets in order to vote. I was gonna vote for Escape just because James hates it, and like Black Wizard all of St. Anger. Lars' pots and pans drums would be so cool live :D.

That's actually not a bad idea, let the people who are actually going to the shows vote. Also probably makes it easier to avoid trolls.

Perhaps they'll do Sonisphere Knebworth and then I'll be able to troll them. I think Girls Aloud or Spice Girls (who we're massive fans of on this forum) did a vote on their website a few years ago of a city they should visit. The winner was Baghdad.

Metallica has always been a confusing band to me....the first three albums they produced were absolute perfection, and then produced some of the most vile crap I've ever heard (St. Anger, Load & Reload, LULU, anyone?)

Pretty much, hard to believe how they have managed to keep headlining festivals and appearing on magazine covers over the last 20 years, they were finished after the black album. They have produced far more terrible music now than good music.

My biggest wish about the new album is good production. I think they'll deliver the goods in terms of writing but production is important.
