Maiden settles the Hallowed Be Thy Name claim in full

I find it funny how McKay is focused on bringing down Steve and Dave, only. Never once, when talking about his legal actions, does he mention Iron Maiden as a whole. Not even Rod, mind you, which ends up being just as guilty as everybody involved. There's got to be some sort of personal vendetta going on there... it's just not possible that there isn't.

Dave and Steve are the only band members involved in the case and the only ones still in the band with something to do with the early songs where alleged co-writers had not been credited.

They're the writers and they're the people credited with the two songs in question. I don't think Rod has all that much control of Maiden, just the money and the legalities.

Besides, Dave has one single writing credit in the band's early songs, and that's a solo one. What would he have to do with everything, apart from the current "Nomad" prosecution? Frankly, none of what McKay appears to be doing makes any sense to me.

With Charlotte's lyrics written by Dennis Willcock, I don't like where this seems to be going at all.

Thunderburst has a little intro bit that isn't on The Ides of March, I'd be pretty sure that's why Samson have any credit at all for Thunderburst. Samson aren't credit on The Ides of March because they didn't write any of it.

I'd have to have a re listen, but I am pretty sure the drum parts are quite similar.

Let's hope the tour will not be affected by this!
I guess the possibility of a tour grinding to a halt makes getting paid more money more likely.
I think the intention is that the tour will be affected, and that is the whole basis of the threat.

It is looking more and more like a personal vendetta of some kind. He doesn't want justice, he wants revenge - for something ...

As in the boring contractual stuff to protect Maiden's own work, commitments and estate, not double checking whether people have actually written what they've said they've written. I can't see the band having to run every note of their creative work through Rod, it's their job to come up with the actual music.

Probably something to do with named persons in legal documents, or company directorships for the period in question. Companies House has dozens and dozens of registered companies associated with Maiden, individual band members, and management personnel. They change names or go defunct every now and then, and are replaced by something very similar.

Probably something to do with Charlotte's lyrics, rather.

Regardless of involvement in specific sets of lyrics, Dave probably gets the next biggest cut (after Steve) of the royalties from all earlier work. But yes, I can see other musicians coming out of the woodwork now the flood gates have been opened. I think the thing I like least about McKay's involvement is that his last statement basically came across as a threat - next time I come calling, give me exactly what I ask for, or else.
