Gotta agree with Diesel here, TNOTB has the standout classic songs, but The X Factor as a whole is a far stronger album.

IRYO. Both songs are very close to each other on my list, but TNOTB is just slightly higher.

"The Number of the Beast" is definitely overrated from an unbiased standpoint, but, unlike most other overrated songs, it's overrated for a reason: it kicks ass and pretty much sums up the basics of what Maiden's really all about in just under 5 minutes. Perfect way to introduce someone to the Maiden sound.

Meaning I like the song very much, but it usually ends up ranking among "the best", stealing the spotlight from other far more deserving songs. That said, I do agree with much of the praise.
