Mafia: Game 1: Mafia wins!

Did you enjoy this game?

Also, I'm thinking of withdrawing. I noticed that a lot of you are able to go through posts and put together clues to decide who to nominate. I'm having a really hard time doing that and have no idea who to nominate and don't want to just come up with someone randomly for no reason.

I only saw a poll for you Collin. I wasn't able to vote for anyone else.

There only was a poll for Collin because he got the most votes from the other players (townsfolk or mafia). Only the person with the most nominations in a game "day" is put up in the poll for lynching.

Unfortunately, there really is no way to tell what's going on yet. Everyone could be bad or good or cop or whatever, we just can't tell. Not knowing is half the fun, I guess. It's not easy to form opinions of who is potentially mafia, you just have to read posts and look for subtext/lies/etc. This can be very hard when you're not sitting in a room with people, watching them, hearing them speak the words, etc. but you just gotta do your best! :)

EDIT: Every "night" the mafia members chat away and decide to kill someone. They get 1 kill per night. Last night they killed Unknown One.

That right there is what I have a VERY difficult time doing.

It takes some critical thinking, for sure. Try reading back over a few messages and asking yourself, "What is this user saying? Why are they saying it? And what do they want everyone else to think of them for saying it?"

Right now the best way to gauge someone's secret identity is to see how they react to being nominated.

Like me, I shrug it off and head to the tavern. Join me for a beer, doc?

I also believe there is a lot of overthinking going on. Yours truly included. It's not like a live, in-person game where you can read people for tells, like poker.

Travis: You're our doctor - doomed or no - so you can't leave, dude.

Current nominations (with 12 players, 4 nominations needed to move to a vote):

Mosh: 3, from Night Prowler, Cornfed, and RTC
Knick: 1, from Collin

Then we have sufficient nominations for a vote.

@Mosh gets to post a spirited defense of himself now.

I'm not sold on Mosh's innocence, but this feels like a calculated hit to me...

What makes you say that?

Also Travis, you may as well help out as much as you can, you're the only confirmed Townie, and as such, the only person who we know's intentions aren't malicious. Please contribute before you die, you're a useful asset.

But I'm already in hiding so what do I do?
Well, for one thing, you should PM Loosecannon every game "night" (i.e., when LC declares that it is night) and tell him which player you would like to heal. Just pick anyone (preferably me :D), and if the Mafia attacks that person, he or she is saved. In other words, if during the last "night" you had told LC you would heal Unknown One, he'd have survived the Mafia's attack and would still be alive in the game. You can do this for yourself too, but only once during the game. If you think someone is probably Mafia, then don't waste a save on that person.

Staying "in hiding" now is pointless. You are already revealed, naked in the harsh light, as the village Doctor. Eventually the Mafia will kill you. But to increase the odds of our team winning the game, you should be trying to save someone each night while you are still alive.

By the way, whoever is the Cop should be doing his or her job each night too. See LC's initial post at the beginning of this thread. And don't reveal yourself (yet) like Travis did!

Lynching me is a mistake. It's only 2 nights into the game and we've already lost 3 townspeople. At this rate the mafia are going to win before we uncover a single member. I think we should be very careful in choosing who to lynch. I'm so confident in my innocence that I will even vote yes in my own poll!

Also, I would be very careful trusting any thing RTC says. Sure his opinion seems well informed, but it seems like he is just eager to see someone lynched. He was the first to nominate SMX for example, and look how that turned out. He was also a yes voter for Collin who didn't seem to care whether or not he was innocent because we'd get information out of him. Y'all might not mind this now, but what are you going to do when he comes after you with the lynch mob?? Or even worse, when he kills you in your sleep as a member of the mafia?
