Even though Maiden England features some excellent performances and also some of my favourite songs of all time, as a whole live album I think it should go next. Less important reason, but still worth mentioning imo: I don't think it was meant as an album in the first place, anyway.

I know that the following releases might not be as popular as Maiden but I think both Unleashed in the East and Alive in Athens are more impressive than most/some of the albums that are left. If you're not so familiar with these, have a(nother) listen:

Yes, I voted for AiA, but that's a desperate move, tryng everything I can to get Live After Death and Unleashed in a more safe place.

Maybe some criticasters are totally focusing on Bruce's performance, but listen to energetic material as The Trooper (still his best performance of all live albums), Flight of Icarus and Hallowed Be Thy Name! And Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Powerslave... a live album with such a powerful, roaring couple. How can that be overrated? I could say the voters are underrating Live After Death.

I'm definitely using Bruce as a barometer, sure. I won't deny that Live After Death is a solid Maiden live album, the band is on fire. Many of the songs are fantastic, but Bruce's performances on some songs (especially when compared to other live albums) is simply mediocre at best. It's less obvious when watching the concert, you really get caught up in the energy of the whole band. Just listening, however, reveals some poor vocals. The other albums on this list have better vocals. Sorry, but Bruce is the front of the band, the front of the mix, and so thus, with Bruce goes my vote for live albums.

There's no denying that 'Beast Over Hammersmith' shows one of the very best recorded live performances of Bruce. Another one is his effort at the 'RockPop in Concert' festival in Dortmund/Germany back in December 1983.

Can't deny that indeed. I think LAD has more nostalgic value for me, besides the interest for some of the songs I mentioned.
