Yikes!  That's crazy!  ...however, part of that tax goes to paying the health care, right?

Do you pay that tax on cars also?  In IL, some cities have taxes upwards of 8-8.5%, I think that could be the same in IA.  However, for auto purchases, IA is 5% tax, and IL is just the base 6.25%.  I know that IA charges a higher fee for annual registration, but I pay $78 a year for my car, truck or motorcycle (IA bases it on auto type and value, I think).

There's not a special car tax.  We have provincial tax (8%) and federal tax (5%).  Provincial tax is on everything except for basic food items.  Federal tax is on everything except for heating oil, books, and basic food items.

Not bad - we have 17.5%. However, to supposedly help us through the credit crunch, the government reduced it to 15%. Needless to say, it will go back up to 17.5% soon.

Is a quarterpounder with cheese really a royal with cheese? Here's a shot of a royal with cheese (and lettuce and tomato, which raises the price by a Euro or so):

That looks like a quarter pounder to me!

Funnything about McD... they don't keep the combo meals the same number everywhere.  Usually a number 2 is always two cheeseburgers, but the rest of the numbers get mixed around.  I was in KCMO, ordering a #4 (double quarterpounder), and their #4 was a big mac....

Jules: Do you know what they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in France?
Brett: No.
Jules: Tell 'em, Vincent.
Vincent: A Royale with cheese.
Jules: Royale with cheese. Do you know why they call it a Royale with cheese?
Brett: Because of the metric system?

sorry to dissapoint you guys but we just call it cheeseburger  :P

Ah, see!  Here, the 'cheeseburger' is closer to 1/8 pound, and they are .99 each.  However, the 1/4 pounder obviously has more meat, and is more expensive.  Its actually a little better deal to the the 2 cheeseburger meal.  Though, I like the double quarter pounder.

A McDonald's cheeseburger has a 1/10th lb before cooking patty on it.  In McParlance its called "reg meat".

When I get a double quarter pounder, I "grill it back" as such:

Hold slivered onions
Add recon onions
Add mayo
Add bacon
Add tomato
Add lettuce

Chapter 2, The gods of pagan Iran done. Coming up: Chapter 3, Demons and evil-doing, fabulous creatures, first men and heroes.

Fortunately, none of the upcoming chapters are as long as chapter 2. That was long and boring, and something is wrong if you can summarise 63 pages on less than one.

Chapter 4: The Future of Iran
Chapter 5: The Demon of Fire
Chapter 6: A Swollen Spear And Her Love Pudding
Chapter 7: Violence and Lust

How nice that would be. But the truth is:

Chapter 4: Death, the hereafter and funeral rites
Chapter 5: The nature of the world and its origins
Chapter 6: The pagan cult
Chapter 7: Zoroaster
Chapter 8: Ahura Mazda, Angra Mainyu and the Bounteous Immortals
Chapter 9: The two states and the three times
Chapter 10: The unrecorded centuries
Chapter 11: The legends of Zoroaster and his sons
Chapter 12: The laws of purity
Excursus: The Zoroastrian funeral rites.
