The guy with the most annoying voice won the Eurovision.
That's crazy to me, I told my family I don't want Austria to win because they're practically cheating bringing him

Not a great year indeed, so many nothing dance songs and screaming. I'm not sure Poland's song had any lyrics...

Very happy with the top 4 though. Austria I commented on, Israel - yet another Keren Peles ballad, but I can't complain, Estonia was by far my favourite and it would have been hilarious for the troll song to win, and Sweden were my #2, great song though I had a feeling it's gonna be the Baby Lasagna of this year, where it's the obvious candidate that doesn't win.

Other favourites: Ukraine (what a surprise, I liked the prog representative), Switzerland didn't deserve all the jury points but it deserved 0 from the televote even less (most shocking moment!), Albania just because I found it charming and hilarious. San Marino were fucking robbed, even if I mostly liked it for the contrast with all the crap. #4/5 for me. Spain and Luxembourg deserved to be higher too. Norway getting into the grand final at the expense of Belgium is a tragedy, god it's so shit.

My top 3 were Ukraine (for being at least somewhat musically ambitious compared to the other songs), Greece (very pretty, even if not the most interesting song I suppose) and Albania (for its genre a banger and the middle section with the dude rambling was fun).

Stuff like Lithuania was actually pretty cool as well, but didn't really feel at home at the ESC. Different vibes I suppose.

Also, the last few years feel like we've gotten a few too many joke entries. If there's one here and there they can be fun, but if a good chunk of the songs goes "haha, we're sooo quirky and weird and craaazy, isn't that fun?" then they quickly lose their charm, at least for me.

Maybe we have different thresholds for what we consider joke entries, but I only remember Estonia, and I didn't catch the second semi-final so maybe there was something there. What are the others for you? (Or did you not mean to include this year)

True, this year wasn't as bad in that regard. Estonia is the obvious one, but Iceland and Sweden felt a bit like joke songs, due to the way their show was set up.

I suppose Malta and Finland were more edgy rather than jokey.

Kaj isn't a joke song. They are a humor group that primarily do music numbers, but saying that it is a joke song is a couple of bridges too far. Sauna is about the most culturally Finnish thing there is (they are a Swedish speaking minority in Finland. My uncle lives in the same village) and it is a celebration of that.

Alright, I can see Sweden and was gonna guess Malta and Finland too. The real joke about Iceland is their reaction to finally getting points

Just saying how it felt without context, based entirely on the show. Also, "joke song" might sound a bit too negative with what I'm trying to convey. I suppose "funny" or "humor song" or something like that would be more fitting. In that sense it's one of the tropes of ESC, you have the big, dramatic ballads, the quirky and funny songs, the arguably (ill) fitting band songs (sometimes going as far as metal, usually not though) and so on.

Damn this weather. It’s May, and I’d already gotten used to May being sunny and summerishly hot. But now it’s the second week of gray skies, relative cold, and rain. Aaargh!

Yesterday as I was with the (for now) youngest in the pram, I got caught by the rain and got really wet and cold. He's fine, didn't even get that wet, but got completely soaked and today I'm feeling my sinuses and overall malaise. "May" my arse, indeed.

The Polish song got done dirty in the compilation showing snippets of each song during the last round of voting. All the other songs either had their choruses or the big, impressive note towards the end. The Polish one had no singing at all during their snippet. Wasn't a big fan of the song anyway, but that felt pretty petty for some reason lol

Yeah. That's why I've been paying more attention to the audience's votes for years, according to them Poland was 7th so I'm ok. Justyna Steczkowska may not be my favourite singer at the moment but I grew up with her songs and in Poland she's in the top of the singers so I'm happy that the audience appreciated her.

From other countries - I really liked Lithuania and Luxembourg. The rest was so-so for me.

The last - and only - time I watched Eurovision was in 2007 when this won the second place

I don't know what we have done to Ukraine to deserve this, but Putin couldn't think up better propaganda for his 2022 aggression. This is legitimately horrifying.

But really, you guys here are the first time I see someone who's not completely musically illiterate actually acknowledging the contest at all. I mean it, I'm really surprised that there is so many people here who take it seriously. Fascinating. Not the least inclined to watch it ever again, but still...
