Let's try and get 1,000,000 replies to this post

I can perfectly go for months without alcohol. I like getting pissed every once in a while, but I never have a craving for it. What I really do fancy sometimes is a good scotch, but that's obviously purely for the taste and joy of having one.

In fact, I'm very happy about that. However, I think I am starting to develop a real coffee addiction. I don't know how long I could last with that, because at home, I only drink fair trade coffee out of principle, and elsewhere I pay between 50 Cents to one Euro per cup.

I am a grouchy bastard right now.  I mashed my car, and it was totally my fault.  I entered an intersection, where I had a 'yeild' sign-- I didn't see the driver of the other auto, and we hit each others front fenders-- tho her truck tore up my front end-- mashed the radiator.  The poor Saturn may not survive; I'll find out tomorro at noonish what the damage is.  At least no one was injured!

ok, now I'm gonna go and watch my kid play xbox...

That really sucks Wasted. At least you weren't on your bike. That would have really hurt, in more ways than one.

I'm not that rich  :(

By the way, in Israel thread LC has an article posted (not in the actual page, but in the page before)
I would like you to read it and tell me what you think, is a Marine-ethics related.  ;)

You will notice that I have refrained from posting in that thread (as I try to do in certain others as well). There are many things I would like to say on the subject but for various reasons either can't or just won't. In fact, I have written about 5 different replies to that particular thread and stopped without posting them. I've read the whole thing though.... I'll go see what you're talking about and if I can speak on it, I will.

Sorry to hear that Wasted, but if it's only the cars that are damaged, then that's not too bad. But it's still an unnecessary headache.

You don't have to share anything you don't want to.  Some people are comfortable not sharing their opinions on certain subjects.  Of course, anyone is welcome to contribute, as long as it's not personal.

You can also PM me if you like. You know that article right ?
I would like to know YOUR opinion about it -in few words!

If again you don't want to do it, I understand that you might have a good reason.  :)

thanks all!  I don't think my insurance will be too crazy... its the first accident that I've had since I was 18, so good on that.

Now I am curious; I'm gonna go and read that thread as well.

Oh, don't get me wrong; I am always eager to share my thoughts on almost any subject... it really isn't a question of wanting to; it is in many cases a matter of what I am at liberty to share based on my security clearance.

In regards to this article though, my (limited) thoughts are this:

It is always extremely easy to sit behind a keyboard, think about our own morals and hypothetical reactions and pass judgment on situations that we are nowhere near. I can tell you from experience that the reaction you THINK you will have to a life threatening situation is not the one that will actually take place.

Also please consider that the information that you receive from the media is not necessarily the truth and almost always has a spin on it in one way or another. If you are not physically present to witness a situation and know for a fact what took place, then you can pretty much count on the second, third, forth, xxxxx hand information you are getting not being correct.

Based on this, I don't know what to say about the subject of this article. The whole mess is certainly a tragedy, that is without question. Sitting behind a computer screen and trying to speculate about who is right and wrong however is an exercise in futility.

Now I will shut up and not go any further into a realm I cannot venture into.
  :)

I understand security clearances.

"What did you do at work today, dad?"
"I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you."
"Ah."
