There's another band who has a song called Iron Maiden, but it's a completely different song with different lyrics. I just can't think of who it is and I can't find it anywhere because only stuff from Maiden shows up.

Or that one sees an idea, forgets it and when it resurfaces one thinks it's his own.
This was precisely what Janick thought had happened to Adrian. It certainly happens to me a lot - I'll pick up catchphrases and, while being vaguely aware they're not original, completely forget where I first heard them. Or I'll store away phrases I like and recycle them later. Then I'll watch a film I haven't seen for a while or re-read a book I last read ages ago and suddenly think "oh yeah, that's where I got it from!"

I still think it's very possible that this was what happened with Steve and a certain other Maiden song ...

I came up with a guitar riff one time that was pretty much of an exact copy of a mates riff. Id seen his band loads of times live, the riff in question was probably my favourite of theirs. I was just fiddling on the guitar and I played somethin I liked, I worked on the start for a bit and the rest just kind of flowed effortlessly in one go, like I was playin from memory. I was often on mushrooms when I saw the band play so maybe we were connected on the astral plane or some such. It was only on my second run through that I recognised it and realised that the best riff Id ever written was not mine at all. So this experience tells me that it is totally possible to 'steal' a riff or tune unknowingly. Only the 'stealer' knows The Truth, man.

Yeah. There’s a song I wrote called The Wanderer and I really liked it... come to realize months later that it’s just a metalized Where Have All The Cowboys Gone. It sucks.

Is this Magnus forgetting he was logged into his main account instead of his lovey account before posting, and that’s why it has the “xx”?

Is this Magnus asserting that fekso was not biologically female, and that’s why he can’t be lovey?

Is this Magnus lamenting that he never got kisses from fekso?

So much mystery from so few characters...
I think we’re all asking ourselves that question at this point...
Jer ya fuddy buddy those two posts deserve 666 likes at least.
Well done, old 'un.

Is that not just Bruce's "Sacred Cowboys"?

In fact Bruce's came first I think, which means WHATCG is a rip off of Bruce which seems unbelievable.
Lyrically, although musically I don’t think they’re all that similar.

I'm wondering was "where's our john wayne" ever a commonly used phrase, because it's distinctive enough that you'ld wonder how two people came up with it independently, but I can't believe Paula Cole ever heard of Bruce to be able to rip him off.

They also use “John Wayne” in two different ways. Paula sings about an abusive relationship and basically says that chivalry is dead; Bruce attacks modern (at the time) society and how the old stories of heroic cowboys are a poor cover up for American culture. It’s honestly really cool how they both put their own spin on things by using the same imagery.

Sacred Cowboys has the best Bruce chorus ever.
You can try to sell me that crap, but you can’t make me eat it (eat it).

That chorus is fine, but you really can’t think of any others that might be better? Something involving a crying reptile, or a tall edifice, or a poorly lit portion of a constellation, or the conversion of solid to liquid, maybe? I’m sure there are others.
