In other news, I had a plumber come by today to fix the overflow in my kitchen sink. The previous owner (may he forever receive undeserved parking fines) had left this pipe unconnected so that any water reaching the overflow hole would pour straight down into the compartment underneath.
But I was actually mildly shocked when the plumber showed me that the pipe was actually totally clogged. The goo he removed from that pipe was uglier than anything I've ever removed from a water lock. How on earth is it possible to clog that pipe, which is only there to take away overflow water? And why would the solution be to disconnect the pipe, leading to the above described situation?
