There should be a word for that chain of events, where public are accused of being affiliated to a group of people, so they dillute the original issues that group has against the public in the long run. Normal people get called Nazis aggressively and frequently (not saying it happens anywhere just an example) and you'll have people thinking Nazis are normal soon enough.
