My boyfriend of seventeen years (and counting!) is eight years younger than me and it honestly doesn't count for much. So unless you're talking legally underage then I would honestly say yes, age is just a number. Maturity and life experience are much more significant factors.
 
A colleague of mine said last week that "Tobias was complaining yesterday about having to walk too much". I asked if she was talking about her son or her husband.

The general rule (*salutes*) for guys is that the lower acceptable limit is half his own age plus seven:

Means that being nearly 28 I am "allowed" to date a 21 year old. To be fair, 21 year old women probably have about the same maturity level.
