Same here! Sometimes I get so caught up in finding new stuff or rating entire discographies that I don't take enough time to just listen to things I already know I love. I popped on Symphony X's The Odyssey today just because and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

That means I need to get my shit together and actually buy the albums I promised I'd bring to MaidenFans Apocalypticamp. Urgh... CDs, vinyl, or is either good? :confused:

I just try to make time for both. I usually dedicate my Monday through Thursday commute to new music and then weekends are for old favorites/survivor stuff.

I’m also trying to be a bit more selective with what gets repeated listens. I can usually tell if something is a grower even if don’t like it as first, so instead of listening to a ton of albums that I’ll probably eventually forget about I try to really get to know albums that seem like they’ll resonate with me especially.
 
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I've been giving stuff a lot less of a second chance recently simply because I know my own pallet and I'm not gonna force myself to like something.
 
There’s just way too much good music out there to waste your time with that
