I fully support your stiff upper lip kind of answer. This weather talk is nonsense for somebody from cold areas of the world. But just to respond; I'm keeping my manliness for 3 months in a row of 40(c) mid-day temperature. Winter is just too much, nobody should be asked to man up to both extremes
Britons are happiest with 11°C and overcast. Everything else is too hot/cold/foggy/thundery/sunny.

I prefer to man up for winter, as unbearable summer heat only occurs every 20 years or so in this country ... On those rare occasions, I can hide in a cool basement or something like that.
The weather was great in Oslo last summer. Or at least the first day/night was.

Icy roads. I drove from Colditz (SE Germany) to Leer (NW Germany), from there entering my country and drive home, around that ice rain front that moved from the Netherlands to the South East, over Germany. Took me ten hours. But good we stayed safe.

Easily. It gets very warm and humid here during the summers.
Edit: Ottawa is at approximately the same latitude as Marsailles, France.

Large temperature ranges are not very uncommon far inland. The record for extremes within one year are something like +40 to -70 in a town in Siberia. In Norway, you have some places that hit 30+ during summer and -40 during winter. Typically, in the regions just east of the mountains.
