Yeah. I just read that right now too. That's very sad. His bandmate Keith Emerson died 9 months ago. Very sad.

Some years back I tried to get into King Crimson. After the debut album, nothing reached that level again (fitting to my taste), imo.
 
In The Wake of Poseidon is not that different from the debut but perhaps doesn't quite carry the same magic.

Red is a beast of an album but also very different from Crimson.
 
Totally different album indeed. Adventurous and technical, but for me that doesn't match the atmosphere, melodies, sound and vocals from the debut. That said, I'm getting into Yes and this revoked some renewed interest in Mr. Buford's activities.
