I start my new job tomorrow, I will be working at a front desk at a hotel/resort thingy.
If you do well in hotels you can make a lot of money! Good luck!

My question for you guys is this: Do you think the usage of concepts can be avoided or minimised to an extent? Our society and indeed, our very lives are incredibly intricate and complex, and to give them such simplification is not doing them enough justice. Doing so could also lessen the impacts of strife and ignorance due to the large degree of variance from person to person.
You can't really do social science without concepts. It's one of the things that infuriates real scientists.

True. What I think @RTC was going on about is how in social sciences, more than in many other academic fields, concepts sometimes gain an ideological appearance. We could move this discussion to a separate thread, as I have the feeling we might have a lot to talk about here.

Boston is great this time of year, went to an event last night on a roof top by the harbor, perfect weather .. high 70s, little breeze, really nice at night.

I am back home!

@LooseCannon -- you are correct, Atlanta was a lot out of the way from St Louis! But, the flight was a ton cheaper from STL-ATL-BNA (nashville)-- so I took it.

Here are my thoughts:
*if you like live music and aren't bothered by country music, you'll have fun!
*if you like the history of some of that music and have appreciation for some of that stuff (including Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Elvis) you will find it pretty cool.
*if you like to see a lot (and I mean A LOT) of drunken bachleorette (sp?) parties, you will have tons of fun!!!
*if you like to drink a lot and have easy access to food and drink, all in a 3 block span, you will have good fun!

If you hate all of that, or even most of that, it may not be fun. Some things I've learned, Broadway is the 'happening place' but there are lots of better places if you don't like huge crowds. We spent our first day and a half on Broadway and it was super cool and fun, but the crowds are packed tight and the drunk girls are funny for a while and sad after a while. We found out that there are a lot of 'off broadway' and even farther places that play good music and are less crazy. Ended up at a couple places like that on Saturday night and had a great time!

I would go back. I wouldn't necessarily go back often, unless it was specifically for a concert.

Cool deal @Wästed The Great I am not really a fan of country music, but I appreciate good musicians. Saw Willie Nelson a few years ago with some friends, not a big fan of his music, but I was surprised that a) they really knew how to play and b) that I knew most of their setlist

Yeah, I'm kinda the same way. I would never say that I'm a huge country music fan, but as I've grown older, I respect good musicians, no matter what they are playing. Also, kinda cool you saw Willie! I think its fun to see different genre's of music, especially from someone that is well regarded in their type of music.

That was my though as well .. I mainly went to hang out with some friends/co workers .. but I enjoyed the show much more than I thought I would. I was not running out buying his albums or anything after the show ... but it was a fun time, because they were a really good band and the guy clearly has talent and even at a pretty advanced age put on a good show.
