I'm thinking forced labour camp for the one who made that headline. Too harsh?

.. or not harsh enough

For those of you not following the spoilers-allowed tour thread, Ed Force One has been damaged while being towed in Chile. Two engines and the undercarriage are damaged, two airport tug operators were injured and are in hospital. The band haven't cancelled any shows, but the plane is out of action, at least temporarily.
As long as they can play at Download and in Oslo I don't really care what happens. :P

Saw it on FB. A bit later I saw a text-TV headline saying "Iron Maiden's plane crashed in Chile". I would have had a heart attack if I didn't already know what it was about.
I'm putting a lot of effort into avoiding any sort of spoilers. I'm so good at it that I wouldn't even know if something happened to the band. I would go to the venue on the day of the concert and have no clue why there was no one there.

I may not be the biggest Judas Priest fan ever, but I would never, ever deny that there is little in the world of heavy metal that compares to masterpieces such as Electric Eye, Beyond the Realms of Death and A Touch of Evil.

Another explosion in Ankara. Literally in the heart of the city. Busiest part (Güvenpark) of the busiest neighboorhood (Kızılay) in Ankara. Central station of all buses and the underground systems. Happened only a couple of minutes ago.

Just saw the news post. Glad you're OK, hopefully everything is OK.

My father was there, at the exact time, exactly a week ago. I've been there countless times myself. It's literally THE location for Ankara if you want to go somewhere and get something done.

We're not safe in the capital of our country. And nobody is being accountable for it. Nobody. Terrorism strikes and nobody is taking the blame. Hell, they call you out IF you expect to be protected from terrorism. WTF is supposed to happen for things to change?

It's the same old story every single time.

1) Explosion in the middle of the city
2) Media coverage ban
3) Condemning terrorism with noone being held accountable, "Don't talk about politics now, you vulture"
4) Minister of the Interior claiming "there's no security flaws"
5) Go back to watching soap operas, Survivor, Got Talent or some shit

The Kurds aren't helping themselves by committing these attacks. I don't imagine the Turkish government backing down from their stance, and the increasing violence will only serve to skewer people's perception of the Kurds' cause. I strongly believe that the Kurdish people should be given more rights and liberties, and that they're in little position to argue in a measured manner considering the point that has been reached in the country right now, but killing is never the answer.

Sorry to hear about the explosion, Flash. But what you say about the reaction from the government sounds even more frightening.

Just to give you an idea of the altitude of ineptitude here:
  • Ankara lost 102 people in October, then 29 more in February. First attack happened in the main train station of the city, second attack happened in the military lodgement located between the parliament and the Presidency of General Staff.
  • Minister of the Interior, after the 2nd explosion, said that they developed a security plan specifically for Ankara and that heightened security would intimidate terrorists looking to attack.
  • Güvenpark, the place of the explosion, is the busiest place in Ankara due to it being the central station for all transportation systems in the city. Therefore it always has high protection, hundreds of policemen in place at all times, even in times where there were no terrorist attacks going on frequently.
  • United States Embassy warned American citizens and their employees of a possible terrorist attack two days ago.
National intelligence is too busy tracking down people who speak badly of Tayyip Erdoğan on Twitter and Facebook. Government places a ban on media coverage of the explosions before the ambulances can even arrive at the scene and then restrict access to Twitter.

Meanwhile AKP supporters look to shut down any criticism of the government for their ineptitude, playing the "it's not the time politics now" card. And somehow, the chaos and horror strengthens their ties to Erdoğan, despite the fact that their entire premise for the snap election in November was that "You didn't give us the majority in June and terror has come back. Give us the power, consistency is needed."

Consistency is here, indeed. We get bombed in the busiest parts of our capital on the monthly now.

It is terrible. The location must be very frightening indeed. I am glad you're okay Flash, and your family as well.

The way things are going now, I only expect more terrorist attacks. Turkey is the most "perfect" breeding ground of the moment. The amount of injustice is immense. One sided media, every opposition is killed off, and the Kurds keep getting their share.

Cats bite and scratch, when you drive them in a corner and put them down.

How long are the Turks going to take this?
