Now that we have a neighbour duel in one semi-final already set up, maybe we can have the same in the other semi? USA vs Canada on a European-size rink will be interesting.

USA up 3-1 against the Czechs. They seem to be cruising towards a spot in the semi. Canada, with 1-1 after the first period against Latvia, will have to work harder for theirs.

Latvia is not nearly as good as Canada, but they are playing a rough game, grinding hard.

Explain to me why Ted Nolan has gone for years and years without a major chance at coaching the NHL? Oh right. He's not a white guy from Ontario.

Yes. I never doubted, but I was nervous. Phew. Hell of a game for that goalie, though.

Well, I was closer to right about Finland and the USA, but I was wrong about Canada and Sweden. Sweden had the walk and Canada had the tight game. Canada played very good hockey, but Latvia came out to play their biggest game ever.

A couple of those are based on tales that may never have been true. And they weren't really torture devices, all of 'em.

I saw an exhibition featuring some of those devices when I visited Prague. I remember thinking at the time I'd like to see some sources. Somebody had a twisted imagination, is all I'll say.
