That's like the old question of whether you'd rather lose your sight or your hearing. I always used to be sure I could live without my hearing...but then, no music....grim.

It depends. I can usually have quiet classical music on in the background while reading, but nothing too distracting.

It really depends on what I'm listening to and what I'm reading. I don't need music while reading a good novel, but when I read up on Islamic fundamentalism, I like to have Satanist black metal running in the background.

Hm. When I do work tasks that require creative thought - problem solving - I cannot listen to music. However, when I do work that just requires concentration (e.g. paperwork), I am more efficient while listening to music.

I have no idea how I managed this - Nor does my IT tech friend (although debugging can be kinda hard on the phone outside in freezing cold).

Long story short: I have five hard drives. I recently put in a new one for storage, and formated one of the old ones to use as a system drive - I also dual boot from and SSD, but for many reasons I couldn't fully migrate to it because of issues with Pro Tools.

But anyway. I have managed to fuck up the bootsector and mbr beyond recognition (and yes, I have quadruple checked the boot order and attempted to repair both). In order to boot any of my three win 7 partitions (I haven't formated my old system, so I triple boot for now until I've taken care of a few bits and pieces), I have to select the SSD as my boot device. Nothing else works. And when it boots from the SSD I can also access the other two win 7 installs, but I cannot do so when I boot from their actual disks.

And guess what... I think my 64 bit windows 7 disc got damaged in the process (how the fuck did that happen...). I'm about to get in my car and go and collect a dvd from dad, so I can burn a new one from Microsofts website.

Home Premium (English version. Saved 50% or so as opposed to the Swedish version back in the day). I like win 7 a lot. I haven't dared to try win 8 yet properly- I don't like the little I've seen though. It's a bit confusing.

I'm very glad that Microsoft offers downloadable and bootable Iso images. Wasn't that convenient in 2000.

Yeah, I like that they offer those images as well.

I'm going to try out Win 8.1 this weekend for a friends laptop :/

I hear that Win 8.1 is more user friendly. Start menu is back - Although you could get downloadable menues from 3rd party developers even in 8.0. Hope you like it. I imagine that it works very well though on tablets.
