I understand that. I've stayed away from Facebook and Breaking Bad, but Star Wars should be watched.

Kudos to you for staying away from Facebook, but watch Breaking Bad. Just watch it, you're not gonna regret it.

I also haven't seen both Casablanca and Star Wars, by the way.

Okay, here's the deal - Flash watches Star Wars and Wizard watches Breaking Bad. And I bravely continue to not watch either.

The Star Wars films are shown on TV every year (at least they are in the UK) but I don't have whatever channel Breaking Bad is shown on. No, I will not download it or even buy it.

I don't have AMC (the show is over, anyway), didn't download or buy it either. I watched it on a free series streaming website.

I grew up on Star Wars so it has always been a part of my life and I only saw Casablanca because we watched it in a video production/film class I took in High School. As for Breaking Bad, I hear good things but I probably would never get into it.

All three of these things should be watched by everybody. Casablanca is an absolute classic, Star Wars is responsible for my entire lifelong love of science fiction.

Breaking Bad is the only questionable one, simply because some people might not like the subject matter. Those people will be sorely missing out, but it happens.

I think people should educate themselves and form their own opinions on such things. Of course, no one has to watch a movie or TV show, but the things marked "classics" usually have some sort of cultural and social significance (hence their stature). I think those things should be studied, but, I also have a film degree, so I guess I like movies a lot more than some people.

I've seen and love the classic Star Wars films..I've also seen The Phantom Menace, I really can't remember seeing the last two, but I might have, but then they were not very memorable...Same with Casablanca, I sorta half-assed watched it late at night with one eye, couldn't actually tell you much about it.

The fact that I haven't seen Star Wars doesn't mean I'll stare with a blank look in my eyes if you mention Obi-Wan or Princess Leia. I know what the films are about and I'm well aware of the culture surrounding it, so my decision not to see the episodes is fully informed. I have seen parts of random episodes and I can certainly tell you I was bored to death.

A guy I work with and I were talking about classic movies a while back. He was responding to my vague references to them with the knowledge of someone that has watched them like I had. I asked him his favorite part and he said he'd never seen it. I asked how he understood what I was saying and his response was: "cultural osmosis" I love that-- and it's pretty true, there are Star Wars references that people get even if they haven't seen the movie. I'm sure many people have mis-quoted Casablanca in saying "play it again, Sam" ....do you think that is the most mis-quoted movie line ever?

Anyway, I don't think anyone has to watch it, but their understanding of the culture of it makes more sense after watching.
