I'm an atheist but also, having had virtually no religious upbringing, apart from prayers and hymns in school (which I didn't understand anyway), find religion fascinating to look in on as an outsider.
I studied a little bit of historical theology and philosophy, mainly as part of historical thought and culture, and to understand more about historical heresy.

I think this was patronizing and yes, offensive.
I guess I wanted to give some opposition to people who start complaining from the first second, even if this Pope could have been the best choice.

So yes, I had an urge to say something about it. And I can get sharp at times.

Well, the arrogant, offending and condemned Catholic takes a shower and goes to bed before he's put to the cross.

Goodnight.

After give it some thought and taking as reference the definition of Perun (which is a pretty good definition) I'll revise my statement and say: I'm an atheist.

Let me explain. Per se, no-one can say that. Faith is faith for the believers, but the non-believers, being more logic entities can never claim that they are sure 100%. Because they can never be. Thus, there are two states: Theist & Agnostic.

Atheist is a political statement. Purely political. If someone really 'believes' that he's an atheist, he's probably naive. The logic people always have to keep a possibility for the opposite. The believers don't have this issue, they just believe.

Also I have a problem to define 'divine'. I can very well believe that Jesus or whoever Jesus did miracles, prophesied, walked on water, or even resurrected. But this is not divine for me. This is physics. Yes. Divine would be that Jesus came as per an upper plan. And this, I don't have any proofs for being pro or against. But I choose to be against -or better, to tell, to act like if I was against, for political reasons. If not, the poor would have to stay poor and the rich stay rich, to put it simply. Upper plan mate. And even if it was like this, I could never accept it. Not openly. Not yet.
