I can't believe I actually watched that.

There are all sorts of things that we can't believe. Do I believe that you're Genghis Khan, for example? Anyways, I thought I'd give your eyes something to disbelieve.

I still can't quite understand why Trivium would claim to be destroyers of the genre that is making them money.  And, remember kids, the ultimate counter-argument to anyone claiming that Trivium are 'true' or 'cool thrash metal' is....Matt Heafy shaves his armpits!

Re: The Last Word

Looking at Joey's picture, reminds me of a little study undertaken by some people who had bugger all better to do with their time than to conduct such a worthless finding. To hold a guitar, they surmised, at the level that our Joey does is less likely to give the player a back strain (or wrist strain) than if it is strung low almost around the pelvic area. Despite the fact that it looks more "rock n' roll" to hold the guitar low down, it is better for you posture to do as Joey (or Mark King, Nick Heyward, et al).

Now, imagine 'Arry or holding a guitar as such:

Much as I think Mark King is one of the greats in bass playing, 'Arry looks more, shall we say, cool. :D

Something has just struck me, the titles of two of the more regulars on this forum: Onhell and Blackie.

Oft have I read each of their titles, but only now have I just picked out the reference to each others. Onhell says "I care about my title" and Blackie says: "No one cares about your title" and this was only picked up as one responded directly to a post of the others. Now, I can hear what all the rest will say - "I've noticed this ages ago." :smartarse:

Well bugger you lot, I've only just seen it! :D

So, who had it first?

I don't know where I could put such a post so let's go for the "Let's try and get 100,000 replies to this post".
I just spend ca. 30 minutes watching the "making of AMOLAD" doc with my 3-month daughter in my arms. The little gnome loved it, and sort of head-banged all along the program
I just can't believe it.
It spent a whole day with her playing Ravi Shankar music similar "peace and love" stuff... Damn, the Iron maiden's got her. :o

hahaha, it took you guys a while. I noticed Blackie's a while back and thought, "oh yeah? nobody cares, hu? well I care about my title" hehe. Hence mine. Now my secret is out and I will kill you all!

Re: The Last Word

Speaking as a bassist, in my opinion it's not all about looking cool. I find it significantly more comfortable to play it hanging low, specifically because it feels more natural to have my right arm more straightened out. Granted, this can cause more strain on the left wrist, which is more comfortable when the bass is high.

The ultimate solution? Upright bass. Both arms in a very comfortable position. Problem is, that doesn't work for metal because it's nearly impossible to JUMPDAFUCKUP when playing upright bass.

I can't resist and post another quote that makes me laugh
it comes from "Nacked Gun 2 1/2: the smell of fear"

[Frank meets Jane after a long time]

Lt. Frank Drebin:    ¬How are the children?
Jane Spencer:      -We didn't have any children.
Lt. Frank Drebin:    -Yes, of course.
Jane Spencer:      -How was your prostate operation?
Lt. Frank Drebin:    -Oh, good. Fine. Never been better.

Re: The Last Word

I really like Sting, some of his music is great (see Fragile or Russians). He was originally a bassist, wasn't he? As is Steve:innocent:

Yeah, right. You wish. Upright bass? Last word: Charlie Mingus.

Editor's note: The exact content of SMX's reply is too vulgar to publish here. It had something to do with "damn kids these days" and "no respect for history". But for the curious reader, we provide one excerpt:

And I HATE that damn Russians song. Sure, everybody and their cousin was singing about nuclear war in the 80s, but at least most bands had the decency to 1) make the song rock, and 2) leave the damn children out of it. This song is the ultimate proof that Sting never should have quit The Police. I can't freaking wait for the reunion on Sunday.

Oh yeah?! Did Charlie Mingus ever make a music video showing off his stand up bass ability?!

Re: The Last Word

You don't actually believe that Sting played that song on double bass, do you? Furthermore, he's not even miming his complete bass part. He plucks about half of the actual notes.

Translation: he just used the double bass in that video because he thought it looked cool. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

But it doesn't mean he's a good double bass player. He might be, but that "evidence" is hereby ruled inadmissible.

Thus, the Last Word is:
I RULE YOU. SUCK IT DRY!
