He only takes about a minute and a half, you make it out as if he was going on for 5-10 minutes.

Yes, but he doesn't exactly say anything terribly profound, or enlighten the audience on a wonderful anecdote about the song, does he?

Speaking of wonderful anecdotes before songs...actually, I won't post it.  Just search 'Slayer, Necrophiliac' and go for the live vid.  It's not very nice.

Re: The Last Word

As you all know, the Cillit Bang Remix is one of mankind's greatest achievements yet in the field of music. One might ask why this 1-and-a-half-minute anthem deserves such praise. Well, simple monotonous beats follow an equal counterpart in melodic percussion, and thereby form a basic rhythmic ground for the music to stand on. The extremely deconstrive lyrics reduced to mantra-like chanting embrace a grim minimalism used by Norse black metal groups to further subdue the listener to utmost obedience. Music samples form an intricate cryptophalangonomicon of changing harmony and lead melody to a complete halt, further enhancing the bleak, utilitarian feel this hymn of a dying age portays. Vocals administered in the melodic phrasing of Barry Scott, administerer of blasphemy, and highly metaphorical lyrics of post-modern insanity extend his philosophy of simple chanting to a style where the toms and bass interplay for a constant roughshod grapple of elemental forces as accented by the sinister shadow of a companion cymbal or high-hat, riding each other into a continuity unprecedented in this genre, including archly-satanic battlefield quips such as "cillit bang, cillit bang, cillit, cillit, cillit bang" or "look how it gets to a penny" that in its simplicity and desperation express the dying gasp of a world aflame with its own denial. Is this the cryptographic philosophy of pretentious excrement or a ode to the soul crushing age of consumerism? The music reveals all...

CHUGGA CHUGGA WEE DUN DUN WEE. Bring out da baggy pantz yo.

Today I'm seeing Maiden live  :yey:

Not to put a damper on your evening, but you have to watch Trivium first.  :P

Speaking of which, I came across an article in a guitar magazine (the cover story, in fact) which claimed to be a 'shred masterclass'.  It featured Dave Mustaine, Kirk Hammet, Devin Townsend, whoever guitars in Crap of God and Matt Hetfield...sorry, Heafy.  Hardly the best shredders in the land (and that's only looking at the first three!), but it was a popular mag.

Anyway, the question was posed 'Who would be in your dream supergroup?'.  Devin Townsend mentionned Stravinsky and Beethoven (because he's Devin Townsend ), and Matt Heafy's reply was....

'...The four of us [i.e. Trivium], [James] Hetfield and [Kirk] Hammet.'
-_-

Look, the most important question of the day/week/month is whether Michael Vaughan should make his Ashes comeback - in time for the Perth test?

And if he does, does Freddy take a back seat in the captaincy role?

Please leave your thoughts here:

And I must stress - this is a very, very, important question. England are already 2-0 down with 3 to play. A draw would keep the Ashes here in England, so think carefully.

It's a good thing I read your comment after going to the show  :P.  But you're right,  I had a headache when I got to the venue,  and Trivium made things worse
