There are some exceptions to that but most of quality pop music are called something different than just "pop" anyways. Sometimes pop-rock or alternative rock.

Well ok, to be fair, I probably shouldn't have said it that way because there is some pop music I do like and I don't have a problem with Michael Jackson. :D I actually more so meant modern pop music. I sometimes forget about the older good ones. I listen to The Beatles and their early stuff would be considered pop or pop-rock.

I don't want to get into anything with anyone either. Just figured I'd clear myself up. :)

Noooo! As I mentioned previously, there are some that are kind of catchy and you can't help but like them and I listen to The Beatles and they could be considered pop. So there, that's my confession! :P

I like Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Celine Dion, Amy Macdonald (awesome singer songwriter, four chord songs) and a little bit of this and that. Lady Gaga's kinda cool too.

Honestly, those are ones I really can't get into. I'm just not that into modern pop at all.

I like Michael Jackson, love Prince. For modern pop, Rihanna has some nice songs. Kimbra is pretty good. I also really like Lights, but I suppose she is more on the electronic side of things.

er

Iron Maiden! :edmetal: 666

I really am yet to hear a truly good modern pop song. Of course there are catchy ones but that's nothing special since all pop songs are meant to be catchy.

In musical quality sense, of course. I mean I listen to Gangnam Style almost everyday to have a laugh and it's catchy as hell. I guess that's what it's meant to be, so it's a successful song nevertheless.

I haven't heard it yet. What are your favorite MDB songs/albums?

For me it's The Angel & The Dark River and Two Winters Only :edmetal:
Wow that's not easy to answer. It all started with me with The Angel & the Dark RIver (first concert I saw was when they promoted this album, opening for Maiden's The X-Factour) but later Turn Loose the Swans became my favourite. I also dig the first album a lot. And The Light at the End of the World (the comeback of the grunt!). This latest album is probably my favourite since Light (I was less impressed by their albums in between these, though every album still contained at least one or two strong songs).

edit:
To be honest, I really like all the albums (I even appreciated 34.788%...Complete at some point), but imo the previous four:
don't have the same charm or not as many strong songs as previous or the latest work.
Still, MDB has always been a great live band. Check them out if you ever have the chance!

And before I forget: the violin has returned!
