My dad introduced me to Metal. My first album was Number of the Beast when I was 6. :shred:

My oldest daughter's favourite song, according to her Kindergarten scrapbook from 11 years ago: "No More Tears" (Como Estais Amigos).
Mosh, I'd like to shake your Dad's hand.

That's pretty awesome. I don't remember what my favorite songs were back then, maybe Public Enema No1.

When I was like 10, my dad played lots of AC/DC and a couple years after that, my uncle gave me a copy of Somewhere In Time. One listen and Maiden became my most favorite metal band ever!

I'll chime in on this interesting topic of discussion.

I like to think that I had a really good musical upbringing. I was pretty much raised on The Beatles and we always had some sort of classic rock playing around the house so of course I credit that to the music I've grown to love today. Some bands I heard as a kid I didn't like till much later in my life so it obviously had an effect on me. I'm pretty stuck in my ways with what I like but there's always the occasional 'new' band that sweeps me off my feet *cough*Maiden*cough* :P.

I was 9 when I got into Hard Rock/Heavy Metal with Aerosmith. I find myself unique because I discovered heavy metal by myself, and no help from family members.

My 5-year-old daughter likes a lot of pop crap, Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepson (but not Bieber, thank God), but also likes Iron Maiden -- just because she knows I do. I'll take it -- when Transylvania came on the car stereo and she immediately started humming along, I felt very proud.

My four-year-old daughter doesn't even suspect that shitty music exists.:D
So far, she is forced to listen to Maiden mostly, or AC/DC and Priest when her dad manages to get his hands on the stereo.

I guess so. We try to make sure that by the time she is faced with negative influences, it will be too late.

Well my parents introduced me to classical music when I was a kid and I loved it all my life.

My path of getting the position I stand now was tricky. After listening to classical music as a kid, I really wasn't into music at all. There were shitty pop music going on everywhere. I listened to a tad bit of rap, then switched to RnB and hip-hop (mainly Kanye West, the first artist I really was into). By the age of 12, I started listening to some alternative rock bands which lasted for about a year or so. Then in 2009, I wrote Iron Maiden to YouTube's search bar, listened to Fear of the Dark, Hallowed Be Thy Name and The Trooper from Rock in Rio and it went from there. I'm more into progressive rock and jazz fusion than metal now. Glad I did that search though, I'm an open minded, experimenting music fanatic right now. :D

As it was before (though since I'm more relaxed and social, we speak a lot more), which is the best thing possible in this situation, I believe. :p

Sadly, elementary school will cure that.
This. My brother and sister are really into modern pop music. They're hearing heavy metal and rock even more than I was when I was that age and they still listen to stuff like LMFAO and Bieber.
