Yeah. The picture doesn't show however that the thing is actually enclosed by the university building, which reduces its aesthetic value a lot imo..

I found this picture, which shows what you mean. Hmm, that's a pity. That library could have been a real landmark in the area.

I think it is really important to point out that since the release of The Final Frontier, this forum has been hopping.

We have lots of new members that have fit in so well. This is like the 6th straight month with 5000+ posts, more than a 60% increase beforehand.

Thanks for coming over everyone :)

It's still very well-known and it often appears in the media as a symbol for education in Germany. I'm actually kind of proud of all the time I spent in there. ;)

This building would be the same for (technical) education in Norway:

The main building of my university, but I've only had one course in that building myself, plus the PhD defenses are held there (I have attended some of those over the last few years ... hopefully my own will be this autumn). I really envy those whose offices are in that building, though - the view of the city center and the fjord is magnificient from there.

This reminds me of an... ehhh German(?) invention.

The zeppelin.

That is a rather impressive group there!

Hmm. It's actually supposed to remind you of a brain. :P

I think Graf Zeppelin was Danish, but I'm everything else than sure.

Shadow must have undergone surgery. He is a shadow of himself, hardly posting in the last three to four years, and still such a huge amount of posts. :)

I am seriously amazed by that high number, really.

He's whipping my butt in the Classic Rock Game II. :(
I'll take that back - I've just gone past him in the latests standings.

That's the sign of a good piece of art - different people see different things in it, just like with a lot of Maiden songs.

The Wiki article on him says he was from Baden, and it links to "Katalog der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek"  so it should be ok.

Its legal in IL where I live, but its 5% too dark in IA where I work. They did that on purpose. So, since I drive in IA more than IL, I hafta peel it off.

That's utterly ridiculous. Fucking Iowa. What have they ever done that's any good for people.
Good: Company establishes proxy to stop employees from going to untrusted websites and installing spyware.
Bad: Proxy doesn't work.

Good: Company informs employees to only use trusted sites.
Bad: Employees ignore it.

Good: Employees find a website with a fun game to play.
Bad: It isn't on the trusted list.

Good: Managers are informed to end behavior.
Bad: They ignore that instruction rather than be "the bad guy".

Predictable: network infected with viruses; somehow, this is local IT's fault.
