Only a year and 2 months and I've babied the thing the whole time. Hopefully more pixels dont start to die (can that just happen randomly?), I need this thing to last me the next three years.
Yeah, random pixels can die. It is a pain in the ass. My Mac (tho I love her) has a back light that has gone to shit, and sometimes its just useless (only 2 yrs old). Unfortunately, when a pixel goes, I don't think there is anything to do for it... but that doesn't mean any more will go out.
I saw a weird one, a desktop LCD, where about an inch wide and a quarter inch high of pixels went out, like they were crushed, and the rest of the screen looked like they had must oozed down it, like someone sprayed something at the top and it dripped down.

This is too much. My Mac now won't burn cds anymore. And, for some reason, my PC locks up every time I try to burn my playlist in iTunes. Fuck.

On the Mac, try resetting the SMC. Shut it down, remove the battery, hold down the power button for 10 seconds, and then let it sit for 10 more, then hook 'er all up and boot it up. If it's still not working, it's the Superdrive.
Thanks Loosey. The PC, I've only had iTunes on it for 3 months, but I'll try it.
I'll also work on the Mac-- I saw some things that mentioned using a CD cleaner and that worked. But I'll play around with it tonite.

Talking of Football - well, sort of - I have just seen a headline on the Beebs RSS feed stating: "French and Henry granted divorce". So, I thought for a second that Thierry Henry had given up his French citizenship and divorced the country in some sort of protest at the way their national team is performing.
Then I realised it was about Dawn French and Lenny Henry.
