OK cool.  I am gonna go pick a ship to profile for yesterday's feature.  I think the upcoming defenseman for Hockey Player is going to be Big Bird - Larry Robinson.

ha ha!  Ok, I'll go along with that one!  ...tho, sometimes sleep is for those who have been fucking.

Two hours of sleep is definitely not enough...
Two night ago I had 15 hours of sleep. Last night 1 hour, couldn't sleep for the next four hours, then a further 8 hours. Just about enough, I'd say.

Just read your article on Thermopylae, a good read; glad that you can obviously detach historical reality from a good film, 300. I once sat through a 2 hour lecture by some Oxfrod professors on the historical inaccuracies of Gladiator. And they were dead serious, on the verge of being upset by the film, and I think they only showed about 1 minute's clip of the movie. Get a life, seriously.
Also, I'm currently reading a very good novel about the battle of Thermopylae, Gates Of Fire by Steven Pressfield. Recommended to all.

Oh how I crave that. Some real good sleep. Doesn't look like it'll happen anytime soon, though.

Yeah, I really don't get it. It's obviously entertainment, and it actually does more good than harm if it leads people to interest themselves for these topics. You should really think Oxford professors have better things to do.
I've heard much good about Gates of Fire, I'm going to check it out some time...

All 'historical' film are bullshits historically, especially films about antiquity.
But what I liked in 300, was that comics approach. This fact saved it from all historical 'faults' /exaggerations.

In fact somehow, it's the best Greco-Roman film I've ever seen, and the only one not to be kitsch at all for my taste.

The only detail; You'd better know the story from before and not let this film educate you
-but this goes for all antiquity films

Two summers ago 12 young volunteer firemen died on islands of Kornati, here in Croatia. They were transported by helicopter to extinguish a low-growth grass that's been on fire there. There is no population or anything in the area - it's a pretty barren island archipelago, which is a national park. Suddenly they were surrounded in the circle of vast fire, and the story ends.

"Experts" in the field proclaimed accident as a result of eruptive fire, phenomena rarely seen and poorly documented.

However, new evidence has come up lately; during strikes on Serbia in '99, NATO airplanes ejected left-over payload on route. Two or three pieces of ordinance one day fell to that island, fuel-air bombs or droptanks, and 7-8 years after caused terrible deaths.

What's more interesting, newly elected socialist government forbidden NATO air groups to cross Croatia's airspace during the campaign. Only on emergencies, where damaged NATO planes from north Serbian (Vojvodina) theater were allowed to make emergency landings on Croatia's eastern grounds. When conservatives returned in 2004, they outruled that particular law.

Of course, we couldn't track them, because that same NATO (USA) sold us broken, inoperable FPS-117 ground to air radars two-three years earlier. Therefore, they were happy to sell us pieces of junk for high price, and our corrupt politicians were happy to get their filthy hands on money transactions. Same thing in 2007, when authorities decided to conceal the truth about NATO payloads all over eastern Adriatic coast, because we don't want to piss our newly found masters.

That's how life goes in typical western imperialistic puppet state.
Oh, and did i tell you that my paycheck is 6% lower because gov't stole all that's worth stealing, and now they're directly stealing from the citizens.

Boy, does capitalism suck.

What's sad is that they think they need to kiss American ass, when they really don't need to.  America doesn't really give a fuck what Croatia thinks of them.  What are they going to do otherwise, piss off?  I mean...safety should come first

You obviously haven't got a MMF loan.

The great thing about computer games is, you can surprise attack your enemy with a nuclear holocaust, send in labour slaves to remove the fallout and get away with it.
