I translated it. Something to read for commuters on the train this afternoon or in the sauna (or wherever):
"Old laws no longer apply. At least one can as a new side effect of the two years of pent-up live hunger observe that the once for their support band ignorance notorious lron Maiden fans surprisingly welcome “Lord Of The Lost” with open instead of folded arms.
The - admittedly - punchy Manson-meets-Heppner Dark Rock of the Hamburg band is so well received in Berlin that in the front rows even first fists are swung. Something that is repeated for the following AC/DC-crazy “Airbourne only” further up and in the back of the audience.
Although the sound is a bit thin at the beginning, this doesn't keep the O'Keeffe brothers and their entourage from letting the stage hogs out as usual. Songs like 'Boneshaker' or the closing 'Runnin' Wild', (full) beer cups thrown into the audience by singer and guitarist Joel or the first tentative mosh pits heat up the atmosphere and make the the crowd ready for lron Maiden.
While a video clip with CGl-Eddies lets quite a few album artworks and eras of the band's history pass in review during the stage rearrangement, you have to think of the - basically - historical focus of this 2018 (!) started " Legacy Of The Beast" tour.
Since the band has meanwhile released their new album “Senjutsu” the tour poster with an old and a new Japan-Eddie already indicates the discreet character of compromise.
This is confirmed to the classic to “UFO’s” “Doctor Doctor' by the unveiled Nippon stage scene of a temple complex.
Instead of Uma Thurman, however, it is drummer Nicko McBrcain, who takes his place first, followed by the rest of the lron Maiden members.
Bruce Dickinson, in a proper samurai style bun and accompanied by a katana-wielding Samurai Eddie, throws himself fervently into the title track of said current album, then into 'Stratego', and finally performs 'The Writing On The Wall', which is the most well received of the new material. Then Japan is unceremoniously dismantled and the backdrop view on cathedral windows is revealed. 'Revelations' turns into a revelation; the Maiden family speech before 'Blood Brothers further unites. Changing backdrops, props such as luminous crosses, pit lamps or dangling gallows nooses, costume changes (for Dickinson) including flamethrowers and other cleverly placed effects but above all the new, beautifully sculptural inflatable puppets demonstrate that lron Maiden´after several years with a somewhat antiquated stage presentation are finally keeping up with the times visually.
Musically on the highest level anyway (only on 'The Trooper' Dickinson shows an indication of frog in the throats) the show enters with 'The Clansman' and, of course, 'Run To The Hills' (from
20,000 throats) after a good two hours into the home stretch.
As a last encore 'Aces High' takes place, where at the end it becomes clear that lron Maiden is not Icarus, but a heavy metal highlight - historical and current at the same time."
