Legacy of the Beast 2018 Tour

I feel the same way about it. Maiden comes out with towels around their heads and performs Journeyman or Blood Brothers...it's just not very exiting...it does add a bit of personality/intimacy between band/audience but kills the momentum for the few final songs.
Blood Brothers and Wasted Years as the last songs was the most natural and magical way to finish a Maiden show, at least for TBOS tour. Those two were probably the highlights for me in London 2017. Journeyman is a song I hope to hear live one day. You'd think in their age they would at least consider bringing it back to slow down the set a little bit.

Best first song encore will always be Hallowed though right? It's gotta be....or Number of the Beast...actually anything that can break the crowd noise between the end of Iron Maiden and the start of the encore track....the church bells of Hallowed are just perfect for that a is the voice over for NOTB.
TNOTB for me.

I saw Maiden do Journeyman in 2003 and like I said earlier it was nice to feel the intimacy of the band/audience, even though I'm not a fan of that track at all. Maiden came on stage with acoustic instruments everything felt very personal but when the song was over....NOTB intro came on the speaker...and the so called real encore started.

Maiden did release Prowler as an official live track "recently" on the The Trooper 2005 single, recorded live in Iceland. So I guess that must mean they like it too. I wouldn't mind if it was played live!

I liked how on the early 80's ('81, '82 and '83) they ended the concerts with Prowler, that was unusual and pretty good actually... :)

It can't be worse than "Prowler '88" compared to the original version, though. ;)

I quite like this version. Bruce always improves the songs on the albums that he do not sing. Besides, I always wondered how the first 2 albums will sounds with Bruce - well luckily we have some studio versions for some of them... :D + the live versions we always get/have.

I'm with you here, I saw Journeyman as an acoustic-y encore the 1st time I saw them on the DOD tour and it was awesome

Actually, I think Blood Brothers worked quite well in the encores - the same I can't say for WY, that song should be played in the middle of the set, but it was a fresh approach for closing the concert (and a nice surprise). They easily could have done the old formula for closing the concerts - Running Free and Sanctuary.... :p

Respectfully disagree. "Wasted Years", with its upbeat sound and the nostalgic aspect of its lyrics, is the perfect closer to a Maiden concert and should be closing every single one from now on (especially the very last one).

Prowler's definitely a good song, but I dunno. It kind of sounded like crap in 2005 - they played it too slow and it just wasn't intense enough. Part of that is on Bruce not really being able to deliver on the vocals, but Nicko's choice of beat or tempo didn't help either.

Frankly, I think it's a song that doesn't really sound good anymore. And that was 13 years ago, so I doubt it'd be any better now. There's quite a few better songs they could do instead.

For me every ''old'' song on the 2005 tour was magical.
I liked Prowler's version on that tour, but also I quite like the version of it from A Real Live Dead One '93 tour & live album... ;)

Exactly. Wasted Years is an amazing show closer. I would rank it 2nd out of all Maiden songs, after Hallowed.

Well, thinking about that, Hallowed into WY is probably the perfect way to end the show. Maybe they can hang Eddie during Hallowed too.

I dunno. But now I'm think about it and you're right, WY is a good closer - maybe I was sick of it, because from 2012 to 2017 it has been played non stop (also in 2008/2009).

The version from the Live Chapter was good, but they should have released the song from Mexico for example, from Latin America (I know it is from Rio, but that was not the big festival ! In Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and especially São Paulo the crowd love Maiden + the atmosphere is always top-notch), but sadly they come up with the easy way and don't even released a new video (which was released before) for the song - I still can't get through it... :D

Well, to be completely fair, the Live Chapter "Wasted Years" video recaps all previous audiences, it doesn't only show Rio's. I distinctively remember Wacken and Japan being shown.

Yeah, I should've said the audio is from Rio. Anyway, WY is a classic Maiden song and one of their best.

I agree. It was a fantastic upbeat way to close the show.

Journeyman is a strange song to me. It's a ballad, but 7 minutes is a bit long, the chorus on the other hand is very good... it's not the usual song you would expect from Maiden (maybe more from Scorpions), but is something new and surprising and they grabbed the chance to write e full acoustic song. Probably DOD tour is going to be the first and the last time that Maiden will play Journeyman live.
The only problem with Journeyman for me is why don't have a solo on it (like the acoustic solo from Adrian on DOTR)

Although, I love power ballads and that's why Wasting Love is a song that I like a lot...

TNOTB-->RTTH-->HBN is a tough encore to beat.

However, anything rare from Killers as the first encore (esp if it's Killers or Murders) or second encore (if it's a faster song like Purgatory) would be a nice change.
