It may have been surpassed by other songs since it was released, but the first song of the first album has got a feeling of "that's where it all started" that makes it a bit magical ("And The Address", "Good Times Bad Times", "Black Sabbath", "One For The Road", "Ride The Sky" -though the latter was preceded by an EP, I know...)

Prowler indeed has a magic in it (riff, melody, chorus - unmistakable Maiden). It has a special place in my heart being one of the first songs that I heard from Maiden...

Songs like Trooper, HBTN, Powerslave etc... are among the Maiden greatest hits, but Prowler is in the same league if you ask me ! I consider it as a classic and Maiden should play it more often :)
 
Prowler's definitely a good song, but I dunno. It kind of sounded like crap in 2005 - they played it too slow and it just wasn't intense enough. Part of that is on Bruce not really being able to deliver on the vocals, but Nicko's choice of beat or tempo didn't help either.

Frankly, I think it's a song that doesn't really sound good anymore. And that was 13 years ago, so I doubt it'd be any better now. There's quite a few better songs they could do instead.
 
Maiden did release Prowler as an official live track "recently" on the The Trooper 2005 single, recorded live in Iceland. So I guess that must mean they like it too. I wouldn't mind if it was played live!

 
I can think of a significant number of songs from the early days that I'd rather see played instead of Prowler, Remember Tomorrow being my top choice. That one was magical in 2005.
 
If they can do on the new tour like they did on the A Real Live One Tour....Do Prowler, then jump straight into Transylvania and transition from Transylvania into Remember Tomorrow :eek::eek:

That will be the case for all Iron Maiden fans for all their songs. I'll be happy to get just about any "rarity" to be honest. 'Powerslave' was a massive, but very welcome, surprise in 2016!

That depends on which song you prefer of course! :P I saw them play 'Children of the Damned' at Donington Park in 2007, but I couldn't make the Somewhere Back in Time tour so missed 'Powerslave'.

I love both, but if I had to choose one I would go with 'Powerslave'. ;) Before the 2016-2017 tour I had seen them play 'Powerslave' live in 1999 (once) and 2008 (four times), whereas I had only seen them play 'Children of the Damned' in 2007 (once).
 
I also love both, but was more exited for 'Powerslave'. That's six times I've seen it in two years now, so I have no problem if it doesn't come back...

'Wasted Years' was a nice surprise to end the set. I was not surprised by 'Blood Brothers', more underwhelmed. Such a dull song, particularly for the encore.
 
I feel the same way about it. Maiden comes out with towels around their heads and performs Journeyman or Blood Brothers...it's just not very exiting...it does add a bit of personality/intimacy between band/audience but kills the momentum for the few final songs.
 
I beg to differ regarding Blood Brothers. It worked incredibly well as one of the encore songs the 4 times I saw them during the TBOS tour (Donington in 2016, Liverpool and both London shows in 2017).
 
Blood Brothers does have a good deal of sing-a-long to it as well which might work better than Journeyman for example did. Keeps the crowd alive before ending with a few favorites.
 
The videos of it look impressive with 20,000 people clapping in time, swaying their arms from side-to-side and singing along, but I don't find it a fun song to watch.
 
Best first song encore will always be Hallowed though right? It's gotta be....or Number of the Beast...actually anything that can break the crowd noise between the end of Iron Maiden and the start of the encore track....the church bells of Hallowed are just perfect for that as is the voice over for NOTB. I'll take that over Journeyman or Blood Brothers any day!
