KISS

R.I.P. Ace. Loved his playing on all the KISS records. Only yesterday did I bought my first ever guitar and later I got this news. But hey, if one legend is lost, another star is born!

My favourite KISS song with Ace on vocals.

Bruce Kulick played only 2 songs with the band (Lick It Up and Rock And Roll All Nite). The band sounded nice. A rare song was Take Me (Paul said he couldn't imagine to write such lyrics for a song now).
In the link there is an interesting short interview about his time in the band. He said that Paul wasn't a fan of the COS album direction. He likes his Tears, Forever and Unholy solos.

Paul teases probable new music. Why they didn't do it when they were active? Gene also mentioned some plans for the future.

It’s all BS. Same as how Paul said for twenty years he was replaceable just like Ace and Peter were. So why not replace him instead of lipsynching an entire five year tour and then retiring the whole band? It’s all spin and PR to justify whatever they’re selling at the time.

When was that show? was an oficial show?

They’ve already got a replacement guitarist. I’m not sure he totally fits them, though. He’s not that into bends—more of a punch-picking kind of guy.

That’s from a few years ago, he hasn’t worn that costume for years.

Otherwise it would be hard to tell since he’s been doing that exact same schtick flying out to sing Love Gun since 1997. Talk about stale.

My guess is because Paul has said in various podcasts over the last few years it doesn't matter how good the new material might be. When it comes to the setlist, nobody wants to hear the new stuff, because they want the classic stuff that the audience has lived with for decades. So really, if they're not gonna play it anyway, it doesn't matter whether they're actively touring or not.

The funny thing is, both Gene and Paul have said for YEARS there's no money, and therefore no point, in making a new Kiss album. Then a few months ago, Paul changes his tune and says new Kiss music is probable. My theory is that royalties are irrelevant when it comes to new Kiss music. Pophouse wants more Kiss content that they'll own, and the band will get paid upfront for it. That's the only scenario I can see where Kiss changes its stance on a new album.
