Judas Priest

Going to Dalhalla. Never been there, pretty cool, but it's a former quarry turned seated outdoor arena.

Looking at the tour poster - this is definitely a leg dedicated to Painkiller's anniv. Maybe something like the 2009 British Steel anniv set? It's weird because the new album is very popular and I thought they would mix more songs from it.

Edit: 3-5 songs from PK, at least 3 (or 4 with other debuts) new songs and the rest the usual classics or old favorites they played this year. With 12 songs-set would be more difficult for variety.

I very much doubt they will play the full Painkiller album (if they in fact were there would be press releases and interviews about it by now), but I guess they'll pull out three or four songs off it.

I mean...it's called the Shield of Pain tour and the tour art is still based on the Invincible Shield artwork...I don't see any reason to believe they won't focus on the new album as well as Painkiller.

A couple of different songs from the new album and any 4-5 songs from Painkiller would keep me happy, I played it twice the other day and it still feels so to the point and succinct.

Not too bothered about the setlist anyway, just want to enjoy what time we have left with the band.

Painkiller
Between the Hammer and the Anvil
One Shot At Glory
Night Crawler
A Touch of Evil

That's probably in the realm of realism and would make the set feel pretty Painkiller oriented. Wouldn't mind if they tried something like Leather Rebel. Hell Patrol is awesome but I can't see Halford pulling that one off.

They did Hell Patrol in 2022. Worked fine.

They can play basically any Painkiller song, excluding Metal Meltdown, which is too difficult to sing.

Hell Patrol worked well in 2022, but I liked KK's version more. KK's Priest also performed a great version of Night Crawler, so I won't mind if Priest decide not to play this one in 2025.

Personally, I'd like to hear All Guns Blazing and Between the Hammer and the Anvil. They didn't play them outside the US on the 50th anniversary tour, and BtHatA is one of my fav Priest tunes. Leather Rebel would be very nice too. But I'll be happy with any Painkiller deep cuts they choose.

It's one of their best albums and they always note their annivs, but other deep cuts probably deserve more attention now. The new album is compared to it, so the idea is very nice for them.

They should play Leather Rebel to be interesting (I recall Richie rehearsed it a few years ago) and stuff like All Guns Blazing, Between The Hammer & The Anvil, the title track (ofc). As for the rest: Rob imo doesn't sing Hell Patrol well now, Metal Meltdown has difficult vocals and I thought One Shot At Glory was special for the anniv tour. Night Crawler is the most likely (not played live since 2012), while A Touch Of Evil is easier. All songs are good and strong.

EDIT: the tour officially celebrates the anniv of Painkiller and the band promises a unique set with the usual classics:

Richie about the next album:

''I think a bit of both, really. These tours tend to grow and evolve over time — the more we do, we get more offers from different territories and stuff — so I'm sure there'll be more touring. And there's always ideas coming up, there's always creative juices flowing. So if we're able, we might be able to get in and put some ideas together and see where we are. Is there another record? I know we've got ideas coming up all the time — riffs and melodies and song ideas and stuff. We're creative people — as a group of creative people, that's gonna happen. So I think, hopefully if we get some time early next year, we'll be able to pool those ideas and see what we've got and then hopefully hit the road again somewhere else.''

''Crown Of Horns'' is nominated for Best Metal Performance Grammy awards.

I don't care about such awards, but it's some recognition for one of their best slow songs imo. An anthem too.
In my opinion, Gojira which is nominated in this category too for the same ceremony will win the prize.
