Judas Priest

They did play 2 songs (Eat Me Alive and Hell Patrol) for the 1st time on this tour

Yeah, plus some others. The 2008 setlist is one of their most interesting ones for sure. But it didn't felt like an album tour. They had an idea to play the full album, but at the end it's like they didn't believe in it. Rob and KK like it. Some amazing songs and underrated material and they will work great live.
Edit: if they played more songs from it live, maybe the album wouldn't be so underrated.

Agreed. It's a bit odd, isn't it.

The reason he gave for not playing songs from Nostradamus - because it's meant to be listened in full and they can't fit it in the set - I don't agree with that. Some of the (longer) rockers or the title track are perfect. The album's true strength is the different feel and unique approach for a traditional metal band. They should have made its album tour in 2008 special by playing it in full or most of it with other rarities and classics. A missed opportunity.
Back in the day, Rob used to smoke cigars. He wasn't a chain smoker, but his "hobby" certainly wasn't good for his voice. He also had some problems with his back, so he underwent surgery in 2014, which made it easier for him to play concerts.

I also disagree with Ian. Nostradamus would have had a much better reception if it had been given adequate promotion in the form of concerts. It's not a perfect record - far from it. It's too long, there are some unnecessary tracks on it. But playing only 2 songs of a double album seemed like the band didn't believe in their own work. The setlist was amazing, but the tour didn't feel like an album tour. I think that several Nostradamus songs could work well live: Persecution, Alone, Future of Mankind (which includes possibly one of the best Tipton's solos ever), Visions... They just never got (and most likely never will) their chance to shine.

The strange thing is that - AFAIK - Glenn, K.K., and Rob do like the album. Ken even said he'd like to play some of those tracks with his current band.

They've announced a few dates with Scorpions for 2025 and I see that it's being branded as the 'Shield of Pain' tour. 35th anninversary of Painkiller tour to come?
Probably a 2nd leg of the new album tour combined with Painkiller's anniv, they do this often and the two albums will be a great and popular pair, although they have played quite a few different songs from it recently. More than half of the album, iirc.

There's no way they're going to play the whole thing. It seems that they're going to be Scorpions' special guest, which means that the setlist will be 75 minutes long. They have to include some new songs (probably 3 tracks), the Painkiller tunes (3-5 songs, sadly including the title track), and the hits. Approximately 12 slots in total.

And yeah, they did play some of the PK deep cuts during the Firepower tour and the anniversary tour, but the European fans didn't get to hear All Guns Blazing and Between the Hammer and the Anvil. Night Crawler hasn't been played since 2012, Leather Rebel hasn't been performed since 1990. They can easily make a good mix of fresh songs, classics, and rarities that would satisfy many Priest fans.

I hope they'll play some headlining arena shows tho, but I'm afraid that it may not happen. Which would be a shame since the concept of the tour is amazing.

They're only playing one show with Scorpions in Hannover to celebrate their 60th Anniversary.
Priest will probably headline their own tour.

It wouldn't make sense to have a hybrid Invincible Shield/Painkiller tour and be "special guests".

Technically it would be a 3rd leg for North America since they played there twice, April-May and Sept-October.

They're playing with Scorpions at a few festivals too. To me it looks like there will be more Scorpions + Priest arena/stadium shows, otherwise there'd be no point in booking both bands for the same day of an event such as Barcelona Rock Fest or Monsters of Rock. It'd be natural to book Priest as another headliner, but for some reason the organizers don't do that.

And yes, it doesn't make sense, but Jayne Andrews isn't the best manager around, and this wouldn't be her first stupid decision.

I agree about Jayne Andrews, but hopefully Priest do their own headlining shows.
Just gotta wait and see what happens.

Richie:
''I was talking to Rob about it the other day. And the last time they played together like that [before this year's Aftershock] — we played with them last year at the [Power Trip] festival, but that was not on the same day. But I asked Rob, 'When was the last time you guys played with MAIDEN on the same day?' And he thinks it's back on 'Point Of Entry' when they played together, like back in the early '80s. So it would be great to — as a fan as well, I'd love to see PRIEST and MAIDEN on a bill. Well, yeah, he said, yeah, if anything happened to any of his guys, I would have been the next phone call, which is — I don't know what you call it; like a validation and then some. If Harris would have you in his band, that's amazing. But Steve was one of the first people I told when I got the gig in PRIEST. I was obviously in Lauren, his daughter's band, and I told band first, and then I told Steve. And he couldn't have been happier. He thought it was a great opportunity. He loves PRIEST, and he was more than happy to see me do something like that. bviously, I knew Steve before before PRIEST, and, yeah, it's great to be in those two camps. They're both favorite bands of mine, obviously, so it's good to now know both MAIDEN and PRIEST personally. It's crazy, really''.
