Stranger in a Strange Land :(

Fortunes of War, Both Angels, Stranger, Como Estias Amigos, Mercenary

And bad Mosh! No voting for Futureal.

It puts everything else on Virtual XI to shame except for Lightning Strikes Twice and Clansman. Sure the lyrics aren't great, but they don't have to be. It's designed to be a fast, fun song, with no serious matter in the lyrics.

Well the lyrics were the last thing I mentioned. I definitely don't find it fun :p

More like a chore I have to do in order to get to the rest of the album. Thank H for the skip button! :D

Infinite Dreams
Sign of the Cross
Futureal
Angel and the Gambler
Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger
Como Estais Amigo
The Mercenary

Easily their worst opener. Dull generic rocker.
Dull? Duller than Wildest Dreams?
Hahahaha

Generic?
When this came out it sounded like nothing Maiden had done before. The power and melodies in the mid-part are amazing. Wildest Dreams and Different World however.

I am glad I found a soulmate in my dislike for Thin Line and Out of the Silent Planet though. :D

Death to unimaginative repetitiveness!

I agree with the second part of your statement. Wildest Dreams and Tailgunner are weaker openers.

Futureal
The Angel and the Gambler
The Educated Fool
The Mercenary
The Fallen Angel
Out of the Silent Planet

Seriously? It has an harmonic fast melody based intro, a galloping bassline with the chord progression the band most frequently uses and fast paced solos. Don't know how it's not generic.

No, no, no, no.
- It does not have a galloping bass line. Galloping is e.g. a la The Evil, RTTH, Rime, The Trooper, Talisman: Tam da da dam, da da dam, you know, like a horse. ;-)
- Nor has it a harmonic intro. Both guitarist play the same notes.
- Both rhythm and
- tempo are quite rare for Maiden, especially up to that point.

I might be mistaken, so if you disagree, I'd be curious to see earlier examples.

Even if it's not gallopping, it's still in the fast, repeating way Steve mostly plays with in the most frequent structure and the chord progression the band uses. What I meant by harmonic was the fact that two guitarists played the same notes, sorry for the misuse of the word there.

It just doesn't sound different than a generic Maiden song, you pick a song that's not unusual from the band and its feel is pretty much the same.

And to be honest, your example of a generic song for Maiden, Different World, sounds much more interesting than this one and it's not one of my favorites. It has a Thin Lizzy vibe and harmonized vocals, something the band didn't have at all before.

Well, in that case we can speak about almost the whole catalogue. I wouldn't mind hearing such examples of the pre-1998 period.

I think Maiden started doing this since 1990 but I am not sure if that was done most of the time. This pattern sounds quite new to me, especially combined with this speed.

Go ahead. There might be more differences than you'd realize.

I really don't get what's your point in forcing me to pick a song to compare to Futureal, Foro. I say its feel isn't anything special. Every song is different in its their own right.

Most fast paced Maiden songs have something in common with Futureal. On the other hand, most of them also have a special feature that makes them differ. Futureal doesn't have that feature.

Well, you guys are the ones making bold statements.

I was curious if you can back it up (or explain it better with examples), but if you can't, that's not my loss.
