Who knows. It isn't always like that. There's no law that the best two songs from every albums have the same strength. Some albums have more popular songs than others and I think that the debut album could be such an album.

Prowler might have lots of votes by people who wanted to get Phantom and Transylvania through (or Remember Tomorrow). Still, when Prowler is placed vs other songs these same people might want to protect it.
Murders probably just got a bit lucky (out of sight) and I doubt if anyone will protect it when it will meet the strongest 2 songs from other albums, since they're all way stronger (and more popular).

I forgot the rule about songs being promoted. Murders could well outlive songs I prefer by a long, long way.

Killers and Murders went through to the next stage (so they survived!) because they had the least votes from the songs from that album in that particular round. This usually happens only when other songs from that same album are among the songs that have the most votes in that round.
Later, these songs and others that have survived come back in some kind of final (quarter/semi/finals/depends on the one who leads the game), and then we're working towards a top 10.

Gotcha, thanks! So the promotion rule is set up to safeguard at least 2 tracks from each album as (essentially) wild cards for later rounds?

Yes. It makes things easy to control, but as I described in my first post on this page (3), I am not sure if it really is the best way to get the most popular songs in the final stage.

True. I think the fact of the matter is that people simply like some albums better than others, like you said. Even if someone never voted for Prowler or Remember Tomorrow before, they change their tune when those songs come up against later classics that they prefer. This is exactly what I did. :D Not all albums are created equal.

Eliminated:
Prowler
Total Eclipse
Sun and Steel
Quest For Fire

Transylvania
Flight of Icarus
and I've never really been a fan of Children of the Damned.
