Iron Maiden pictures

it's like a man cave except Steve has the cash to have an actual bar.
According to Bruce (in 2008) "... all the members of Iron Maiden have had their Spinal Tap moments. Like when our bassist Steve Harris got builders to make a replica of the Queen Vic pub in the garden of his mansion. I think it was his way of staying close to his East End roots."

From an interview I first read about eight years ago and, in a dramatic break with tradition, actually managed to find again:

I think it was the Scorpions who walked out of the Spinal Tap premiere not Maiden.

I would not be surprised if that was the case. As much as I enjoy classic Scorpions, their attitude during the 80s epitomised what Spinal Tap was making fun of.

I heard the story from a sadly deceased friend of mine who was a music journalist. He attributed it to them being Germans.

Maiden actually flew him out to Canada during the Dance of Death tour, and while George was a well known crank he had nothing but good things to say to me about the intelligence and gentlemanly nature of Maiden. And make no mistake there would have been no better man to wind me up about Maiden if he wanted to.

'Iron Maiden attended the premiere of Spinal Tap and walked out in disgust, convinced we were the models for the film’

I’ve always imagined Rod Smallwood being like Spinal tap’s manager!

Are they all so happy because Steve just gave them some money for past royalties?

If they were prepared to actually face up to him and, kindly and politely, appraise him of his "shortcomings" (whatever they may be), I think he would be quite happy to put the matter right because I still maintain that he's a fundamentally decent bloke. But the fact that they're all together and smiling tells us all we need to know about now, whatever may have gone on in the past. If only Ron Rebel could have made it to the party too, then it would be perfect :).

It is!

The number of hand pumps is quite disappointing though. It definitely shows that the real ale drinker in the band is Bruce!

I think Steve is not much of a drinker at all. I'd say cask ale wouldn't be appropriate for such a bar unless you were using the bar often enough to empty the cask before it went off.

I do remember seeing on the 12 Wasted Years video that he had Harp on tap. That's an Irish lager from back in the day that did not have a good reputation! (I quite liked the large bootles of it though).
