Iron Maiden News, Links, and Interviews

I think Only the Good Die Young could easily be about the verses being delivered with a more low, dramatic voice which maybe Bruce isn't all that fond of doing anymore. But then again Flash of the Blade also has lower verses and he obviously has no issue with that so who knows what the real issue is. I do know I'm a little pissed off we missed out on OTGDY because of the singer vetoing it for whatever reason.

In the recent interview with Chris Jericho, Bruce said he enjoys such dramatic vocals like those in the Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son verses.

Definitely. A missed opportunity that likely won't have a chance in the future.

I think he could sing the song even better

I don't know about that. We're talking about the dude who still goes all "MUAHAHAHA" during Fear Of The Dark, right?
I think Bruce enjoys hamming it up and not being serious 100% of the time. He seems to have a lot of fun on stage.
I don't see that the two are quite the same. Of course he's not shy of hammy behaviour but a laugh here or a silly run there isn't quite the same as singing a full song with an affectation on his voice. Just baseless speculation as to why he might have vetoed it, as Steve suggests he did.

Oooh, or maybe Steve just said that to have a dig at Bruce cos of Brcues dig a Nicko. Ah, the plot thickens. Steve and Nicko in a fight against Bruce and probably Adrian. Steve and Nicko are gonna win that fight, I reckon.

In other words, he is thinking about his semi-retirement idea again? The question is whether that potential future would be with new albums and the same lineup.
In ''some way'' is interesting. I guess it's the hardest for him and Bruce to retire.

Like playing a rare Maiden song, lol. Steve knows well that Bruce likes to tease, always.

Ofc Bruce likes/prefers some songs more, like the Celts and Parchment voting. It's curious because Only The Good Die Young is written by him and Steve, one of the few. It's not like Land's case, but he most likely doesn't want to sing songs he doesn't enjoy. And that's normal. @Vaenyr has a point above, he likes to have fun. He also said he wasn't aware of Flash Of The Blade's popularity among the fans, but what a fun live song, he enjoys very much.

The good thing is that Steve is open to playing more rare/debut songs, we''ll see what they do with the next tour.
He even adressed the question of new music, saying that they could realease new stuff without making proper albums. The man is clearly desperate NOT to stop.

Now that's not cool imo. Maiden is always about full albums and covers. Release new stuff without making proper albums? What, EP? I mean, that's so disappointing to hear and so un-Maiden. And Steve says he has lots of ideas, so what's the matter...

Pay attention to the last sentence in my previous post. He said that in a context where he explained that he didn't want to stop. He explicitely said that, between full activity and full stop, there might be some in-betweens. Anyway, it was just him chating with a mate, not real projects. The only thing to retain is that he doesn't want to stop and thinks all the others are really enjoying themselves. Great interview.

Relasing just songs? I dont see that

An excerpt from the upcoming issue of Metal Hammer, from which we can learn something at least about Adrian's relationship with Nicko and perhaps also a little about the future of Maiden.

Metal Hammer Germany, November 2025

My Translation

AS: "Simon has joined us and he knows that Nick was an important part of everything. But Nick gave him his blessing and wished him luck.
Nick wished us good luck for the tour and still wants the band to be successful because he still feels like he's part of it, and he is.
But it's wonderful to keep the music alive; I believe it's bigger than us."

Ok at least its being acknowledged. As with most Maiden releases these dayd id have liked a little more (full hammy gig perhaps). I might have got it just for the programme but ive already got it so i prob wont bother

Same here. I have the original UK pressing with the booklet and the tour programme too, so I am not sure I will be forking out £49.99 for this release just to read an essay by the FC editor.
