Iron Maiden News, Links, and Interviews

As I said in the Powerslave thread, this is a wasted opportunity. UFO, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple and Hawkwind (plus others) have all put out great boxsets to celebrate classic albums. Where are the Hammersmith shows?

If anyone asks me what annoys me most about Maiden in 2025, it would be their abandonment of original thought when it to the presentation of their music. The actual thing that got most of us into the band! Instead, they give us coffee table books, wine and endless shirts.

I get there is not as much money in physical media anyone. But why do other legacy acts embrace boxsets and Maiden don’t? Probably because those at Maiden Towers feel they flog more tat than put time and energy into creating a good product that actually celebrates the music they have recorded.

Rant over.
Live recordings from previous tours. I think from 80s to 90s everything is out. But since reunion there are many tours. What amaZe me is they used dance of death tour final frontier and book of souls tour to record and not a matter of life and death. Or any other revivial tours

I wholeheartedly agree, my friend, I wholeheartedly agree.

There must be quite some gems from the 80s still in the archives. The full Rainbow ´80, The entire Maiden Japan, Hammersmith ´84 (multiple full concerts, Donington ´88, Maiden England (full shows). For other years I don´t know about potential professional multitrack recordings, but there maight be some.

For me it would be absolutely neat to have the full Maiden Japan officially + mainly the Hammersmith ´84 compilation with all songs performed during the run as it is so much better than LAD performance wise.

In conclusion, there is quite a lot of material for possible live releases, they just don´t give a toss, sadly.

I like that Adrian said Nicko is still part of the band, he and Simon are on good terms. They all know he is very important. ''Keep the music alive, bigger than us'' is a bit worrying, I hope they won't replace any more members. The band to be successful without Nicko suggests continuing, right.

I think the remarks indicate that those who think they want to retire soon are wrong and even those who believe "they are a family where one more retires all retire" are wrong.

They still perform live shows and present their music in the form of songs like ATG, Rime, SSOASS, HOE to name a few in recent years to go alongside the above mentioned tat. Maiden live is something we all craved once we found their music isn`t it.

I will take that for now over the boxsets which i agree would be nice and might hopefully come once they are officially done as a band. How many fans would actually buy them anyway given that cost is something that is clearly an issue on here with most things Maiden.

Iirc, live releases were planned from 2007, 2013 and 2005? Notable live releases from tours (live albums, videos) that we still need:

  • more stuff from 1980 & 1981 tours (or maybe Rainbow and Maiden Japan are their only footage).
  • full BOH video (even if darker).
  • 1983 tour.
  • Hammersmith 1984.
  • LAD '92 with no black and white footage.
  • TEH tour full live album or concert.
  • 2005 tour (we have a full pro-shot though).
  • AMOLAD 2006 tour.
  • TFF 2010 rare leg.
  • LOTB 2018 (plus the 3 new songs in 2022) video (two full pro-shots).
  • TFP tour.

The rest are: at least a live album from 1986, some footage from 1990 tour, more footage from the Blaze era. Some can be skipped due to the setlist (like ME), but some are like a must: TFP (unfortunate), LOTB, AMOLAD.

The thing about these reissues (albums and live stuff) is that it makes sense to me if there's something new: demos, songs, arts, or the whole package. If not, then I couldn't care less. Give me more new music and tours.

Cost is indeed an issue. However, a LAD boxset that was reasonably priced would be something I would spend money on.
